Thanks for the heads up, Harold. I'll have to send John an e-mail in the morning.
I hope you're getting some of the concepts of NX camming. I'm an ex-Surfcam guy, and it did take some time to...
Thanks, John. I thought I had things set this way, but still got the IPW showing when I clicked the Op. I will re-check this in the morning, and report back.
Some of the new stuff in NX6 is pretty cool, like clicking of the individual ops in a program group, and the toolpath highlights. Nice. But, the problem I'm having is that if a certain Op is in a...
Exactly. This is what I used when I ran Surfcam. I think most folks will tell you that parasolids give you the best translated models.
I ain't got it yet! But, the reseller is planning a user group meeting to demo all the new stuff. When that happens, I'll post.
How about your tool length offset? Or were there any numbers left in the controller from another job concerning that tool number? Where is your xyz zero? Simple things, but I've had them mess me...
Steve, I've had this problem before with Fadal machines, and it was because it wanted a G8, which made the controller "look ahead", and not do a line at a time. We were getting the jerky toolpath as...
Good deal. What was the issue, driver update, and not a new card I hope!
Congrats, luke! I use a different system, but I'd like to know how it works out for you. I hear the new release is nice, depending on the level you get. Let us know how it goes.
Yup, still in beta as I understand, and supposed to ship this month. Think it'll happen? According to the web site, some nice upgrades, but I hear that the interface is the same.
That's an interesting looking book, Harold. Do you have it? Thoughts?
Thanks for the recommendation.
OK, I just checked the Surfware site, and still no V4. Anybody heard anything? They don't have much time left to keep the September release promise.
Neil, I refer to my machines as 'confusers'! To really hose things up, you need a computer!! :D
Well, let's hope for the best!
moldcore, I believe they introduced V4 at a tool show in July. My dealer told me that we would get it "this summer", and Surfware says it will be released in September. I hope so, our Maint. is due...
It's in there, tnik! Go to Tools > Options > Files > Read > Solidworks/Parasolids. There you can control a lot of stuff, but notice about half way down the page, there's a check box for "Add...
tnik, I think there's something under the tools > options menu that allows you to make some settings for that. I don't have Surfcam available right now, so I can't give you any specifics, but I...
Since we use Team Center Engineering, I'm told that we have to upgrade to TcE 2005 to be able to run NX6. Our IS guy is going to do that next weekend. I'm anxious to play with it.
Thanks, John
I'm glad to hear NX6 will have the capability. We are getting Team Center Engineering 2005 in a couple weeks, so that we can run NX6. I can't wait to see what's new.
Don, I think we pay some where around $25K/seat for the licenses we use. Different folks at work have different licenses based on what they do. I have modeling, drafting, assemblies and cam. There...
OK, we wanted a forum, so I'll get it started. This is a modeling question in NX5:
Is there a way to split or divide a solid without losing it's parametrics? I know you can split them with a...
Hey thanks, Cadcam! I'm hoping to see a lot of questions and answers here. John Joyce will chime in too, so that'll be great. He "gets it!" :D
Bump!
Maybe we could persuade John Baker the "NX Evangelist" to participate!
Steve, understood! I wasn't referring to you per se, I though you'd go for it, given your experience. But like you said, not every one has your attitude toward these things. That's why I said some...
Mike, you either have me comfused with another poster, or you're not reading me very carefully! I've been on NX for over two years, starting with NX3! Have a good day!
Steve, I'm wondering if it might be a good idea to phase in NX over a set period of time. The reason is that NX does have a fairly steep learning curve. But, if you're going to do it, there has to...
Yeah, I can't think of any reason not to make the WCS where you need it either. You can make a view that's normal to your new cutting plane also.
..........and go to each vise with the same tool, change tools and go to each vise and so on. I don't use MC, but some of the guys do, and I'll ask tomorrow. Someone will surely chime in with the...
Hi, Steve
My sentiments exactly. As I said, I stopped moving stuff when I painted myself into a corner that time.
We have some guys in the shop using Mastercam, and they aren't comfortable...
