I have 2 parts that require machining.
Part 1 is 1/16" thick 6061 aluminum. it is a rectangular bezel approximately 3"x2.5" with raduised corners. the inside of the bezel has a rectangular hole...
i doubt it'll get red hot. it may dissipate 1000 watts but the timeframe is pretty short. I suspect it'll get hot but nowhere near the temperature needed to glow.
I tried my hand at carving a knife handle. It is ebony and bloodwood.

the daughter decided on a Camaro instead of a Z4. Still needs headlights....
some more photos of the cars and bus. Still need to add some lettering to the bus and now my daughter wants me to make a BMW Z4 for her so there's going to be one more car....
Wheels on the mustang.
been a while since I posted. I've been working on pinewood derby cars for my boy. At his age, the parents do all the work with the power tools and the kids help by sanding and painting. I cut the...
CD player is alive. just need to put a top on it and I'm on to the media player component.
here's the latest component for the homemade stack of stereo components: a cd/mp3 player. still needs about 3 hours of work to complete the case and about $2 worth of parts from mouser.
I'd be careful around cocobolo too; really fine dust and lots of people (me included) develop (after 2 or 3 times being exposed to it) a sensativity to the resin. even a small splinter will give me a...
I'll cut a top for it this weekend and then it's done. Next up is a matching cd player.
Here's a couple pics of one of my uke bridges; figured you might get some ideas from it.
The fingerboards on my ukes are oiled.
I would just model the neck in aspire. Should be as easy as a two rail sweep and then project the fret locations onto the model. I've played with it a few...
How come you xidn'tmodel the shaped fingerboard with fret slots in aspire and 3d carve it? The tuning would have been much more accurate that way.
i like it. I like it a lot.
The preamp is alive. Time to write some code for it.
at 8 years old, i'm sure she'll prefer to pick some nice color for it rather than make it like a nice piece of adult styled furniture. I let Lauren glue the parts together and do some of the sanding...
as I recall, I calculated the ratio from a real bed at 18" (doll)/65" (real woman) = 27%, so the twin bed I made came out to about 10" wide. I also used 3/4" poplar for mine with insets to the...
my daughter is in love with the doll bed i made her for her american girl doll. I posted it in my thread about 5 months ago.
I set off the smoke detector in my shop before making a dust shoe. Moved it up on the list after that.
It only took 6 months but I finally ordered a switch for this computer case.

Working on my next piece of stereo equipment: a line pre-amp with a built in DAC. here's the panels I made on my machine. this component will match my mini-amp.
nylon and wound silk string guitars don't have a truss rod in the neck. That's only required for steel stringed guitars.
hakko fx888 in the back there? every electrical hobbyist should have a temperature controlled iron.
some delrin or starboard plugs would look nice.
Neglecting the color, the caps don't really fit the style of the machine. My thought is that painting them won't really make them fit with the look of the machine. Also, all those ridges on the weave...
I thought you made this monster big enough to hold a full sheet of MDF? What Happened?
