You're right :) Let's call THIS model finished. (Some parts are already marked CNM15, which is the next design I'm working on....)
I'll take a break building the machine and actually use it for a...
I'll leave it at his. Most things are done :)
A few minor problems etc still to solve but let's call this "finished":
A pic of the 4th (A):

Not in it's final position and not adjusted straight. Did some testing with wood, worked almost ok even though it has some slack.
Works fine when tool is...
Ground is important because you want zero volts and amps between earth/ground (on where you are standing) and equipment chassis's etc..
If you can measure volts/amps between earth and equipment...
Almost finished with the 4th axis.. Hadn't noticed before, but the cycloid gear box output shat has a little slack... Not much, but I can feel it. I guess it's worn...
Now I'm not sure if it's...
Looks awesome! :)
Did some more testing with the servo, seems to work fine...
Also made a few parts for the A axis. Very happy with how rigid the machine is at the moment. Just in case, will still make some extra...
Ok, sorry :)
Try maybe 30ipm. If it's smoother then you might have some vibrations..
Also try pushing/pulling on the spindle. If it flexes, you need to go slower. If you have a dial indicator, you...
No problem, my fault, didn't check the area...
The Z axis is an AL profile.. I had that design on a previous design, wasn't rigid enough.. It was 2 x 90x45mm heavy duty profiles.
What feed & RPM...
I don't know what kind of machine you have, but I'm guessing it's not rigid enough. ?
(Vibrations etc)
It sounds like a tuning problem to me. Yours have pots only? Try adjusting the balance & gain too. I would start with the gain.
After some troubleshooting, I got the servo drive working :)
- The problem was between the LPT Port & servo drive. It has twisted pair wiring but still the drive got extra input "ghost pulses"....
Got the A axis servo installed to the cyclo gear box. Did some testing and I noticed the servo runs/creeps SLOW when it should hold position.
It's an (early model) DMM 900W Dyn2-H drive & DMM 400W...
At power loss/fail, for example a photocell won't "output" anything, no matter if its NPN or PNP.
I would wire a relay for example to "monitor" power. Power on = relay on; power off = relay off.
...
Try the "Filled Surface" command. Sometimes it works sometimes not.. If not try to trim and then fill.

Free edges? What do you mean by that?
There's no difference in a semi-conductor active low or active high (NPN vs PNP). If it fails/breaks, there's no difference -> both types won't output a signal.
If you have...
I don't have any exp. with geckos... But my best guess is something is wired wrong.
The port setting can be verified by turning on/off an output in mach3 and measuring from the LPT port, should go...
What does the LPT card software say as the parall. port address?
(Also sorry made a mistake, your com is at 0x3F8)
0x378 is for your COM port, check the LPT port address in device manager.
Some computers use F10, but you should see what key it is at start.
Started on the 4th axis hoping to finish it some day.... Drilled & tapped some holes on the servo mount as the old servo had different dimensions. Made a 12mm steel shaft to attach btw. the...
Made & installed a couple of dust/safety/sound reducing covers:

Ok, I personally would then use a schmitt trigger (have used many times for sensitive inputs, works great). The cap should also work as it won't discharge fast.
Schmitt trigger - Wikipedia, the...
A cap will work. But if you use Mach3 as the controller you simply set the debounce setting (adjustable) for the exact same effect. It will filter out short pulses.
You need CAM software.. ArtCAM as an example will do bitmaps.
Even if you would find some g-code, it might be for a different tool & wrong dimensions.

If you make one, then I think the best option is to carve by hand.
If you want to make many then purchasing & learning software would make sense.
I use zbrush for sculpting. It's a very powerful...
Got most of the mechanical parts assembled :) I'm happy with how rigid it turned out. Might even work long-term..

More assembly today. More than half way through I guess... Takes lots of time to get everything straight & square
The spindle power depends on what you cut with the machine. If it's rigid and uses lots of cutting force you need a powerful spindle.
My machine is "semi-rigid" AL frame and I have a 1.1kW spindle....
