Anyone have an idea of where to find around 4,500 fasteners manufactured to NAS5300?
Every place I have talked to is telling me they are 30 weeks out, the wrong company to ask, or incredibly rude...
By the way, if you do not have excel please let me know.
I can reproduce these in another format such as openoffice or google docs.
Hey guys,
Recently, I created a spreadsheet to calculate dimensions for UN threads in response to my other thread, "Thread Calculations"...
I have a working version of a spreadsheet that delivers diameters and tolerances for Unified Standard threads. Currently it does not compute leads or tensile strength. It also does not calculate data...
Crappy hole size formula taken from some drill manufacturers website:
result1 = selected_MD1-fixedValue1*(selected_Thread1/selected_TPI1);
result = [Major Dia] - 0.013 * ( % of Engagement /...
Yes, I have a personal copy of Machinery's Handbook in addition to several others. Today, I found out that all the required math is included in the standard. The standard is $135 dollars.
Once I...
Yes, I have read almost 120 pages concerning threads without finding a specification for calculating allowances and tolerances. The tables were handy for verifying my math. I am wondering if the...
Hey guys,
Android software for solving daily manufacturing and design problems is severely lacking in functionality or non existant. Windows based software is in a less abysmal but equally...

Ask the shop you work for what classes they'll pay for.
EDIT: Unless it's MasterCAM.
Yes, I use that kind of toolpath to control cutter engagement often.
Unfortunately, I did not have any success using the endmill in this manner and ended using a 1.25" Iscar Heli2000 to helix...
Geof: I'd have to see a picture but if I understand what you are saying that is how I was doing it, except the step-over was about 10x what you recommend.
Bob: I understand, it's likely that I...
Hey guys just wanted to chime in about the thread. Recently I moved to the East Bay Area in California and immediately found a job starting at $20/hr to make tools using a Haas VF6. I get an attaboy...

Bob, I agree.
I have this handy Heli2000 that I think I am going to use to helical interpolate to a rough dimension before bringing in the endmill to finish.
Aren't you the programmer behind...
Here's what it looks like. I want to make a little coil gun and this looked handy.
If I could turn off one side of it id make some sort of use for it.
but maybe i could use it to spin the...
I meant to upload a picture of it! Yeah, it's a little dual pole motor not sure if it is vac, honestly.
EDIT: wont let me upload it

To clarify: Varimill Endmills are only manufactured with four or more flutes from solid carbide. This particular endmill has four flutes.
Lowering the load per tooth seemed to add to the problem...
Hey I got this neat little electric motor out of a dish washer.
Anyone able to tell me how to turn off the positive or negative side?
Hey guys,
I have a Hanita Varimill 1" x 4" (TF4V6525028) trying to mill a 2" bore into a block of A36.
The depth of the cut is 2.813".
To start I drilled a hole and ran a helix to the bottom...
Does it clear them all?
One applicable situation could be an instance where you lock the control for an operator. Or mash it into your warm up routine.
I don't know a whole lot about Haas...
Tested today 10/24/2011 on a Haas VF6. Works fine, run time on this old control is just over three minutes.

Most lead screws are made out of stainless but if you want to be ridiculous try 4330M or 9Ni-4Co-0.3C
Thanks for explaining that and for the picture guys. Geof where'd you find that?
If you're using a Haas there is a programming reference in the back of their book.
The standard that Fanuc based controls are using I think is RS274D but there is also RS274-NGC and ISO 6983.
Haha, oops. I mix those up a lot.
This is a 7,500 RPM BT40 spindle that I believe is belt-driven, I haven't had a chance to take the covers off and take a peak.
But yeah, it's barely a cut!

There are too many to name. Are you reading the thread? Poke around in BobCAD
Well, it is supposed to be about a 5hp cut. Could it just be that the load sensor is sensitive?
It sounds like awesome for the most part. I need to get it off the extended holder but aside from...
BobCAD should be able to do it but I do not know how.
Hey,
This is the first Haas that I have been allowed to operate as I see fit. I am used to Okuma and Mori VM/HM's.
Today I am facing some A36 blocks with a 2" four-flute Sandvik Coromant...
