What ever became of the GR570 w/ the integrated Smooth Stepper? Is this vaporware?
This thread has everything you need to make your own, very accurate, Hall Effect limit/home switches: https://www.cnczone.com/forums/open-source-cnc-machine-designs/101878-cnc-forum.html
Hall Effect switches ftw! Easy DIY project and cheap too.
I was just going to post back after finding the archive. All the links and resolution to this issue we’re old and never linked to the current archive so I thought it was dead, and the salesman lead...
V23 build 1493
I’m trying to Mill 3 axis Slice Planar on round stock via A axis (substituting the Y) and am receiving the following error codes:
- Surfer Error 64: Invalid Input Data Buffer
-...
I really am quite impressed with how well the router is working. While I don't have a lot of run time on it yet, I feel it is a real good value for the money, considering what else is on the market....
JD,
I did purchase one of the newer HD units with the NSK rails from Alex a few weeks ago. So far I have finished adding my own electronics and computer setup and have done some very preliminary...
LaserImage,
From what I recall from another thread, you're using them as both Limit and Home switches, how have they been working for you? What methods have you used to verify they're homing...
Gary,
I'd be interested in a little more info on your setup if you don't mind.
- I'm curious about your repeatability with your Hall Effects switches.
- Have you noticed any ill effects due...
I realize that this thread is really old, but I'm curious about the results of this experiment.

Frank
What really sucks is that I built a new computer from scratch just for my CNC project. Had I known that PCI cards weren't 100% compatible I would have got a different motherboard with a built in...
ronncat,
Quoting you from your "Need Help! G540 Green Light..Go or no go? " thread here, as the info form Mariss might help others understand the shortcomings of the PCI parallel card issue. Great...
It appears that card is also using a Moschip. It does mention that it has been tested with Mach3 but not the G540. While my Moschip cards, 2 so far, have worked with both, they didn't provide 100%...
Thanks for that, but I've already tried that. I tried to mention that in my original post but I guess I may have been vague. My apologies.
I edited and reworded the original post to help eliminate...
Maybe I wasn't clear enough in my 5th bullet point stating "pump on e-stop".
What I should have said was "charge pump on in e-stop" is checked within the mach3 general config.
I should probably...
I think you might have missed the fact about the PCI parallel add on card. The BIOS only works for the motherboard integrated parallel circuit, which I unfortunately don't have.
So I'm looking...
Jeff,
Did it work right out of the box or did you have to select EPP mode somewhere?
Trying to find an add-on card that works with the G540 charge pump circuit. When the pump is disabled everything else seems to be fine, I can jog the motors and there appears to be no other issues,...
You actually had an option to choose EPP with your Lava card?
Did that fix your Charge Pump fault?
If so, what is the part # of your Lava card?
Thanks,
Frank
I've got the same problem;
- DB25 straight thru cable
- EPP compatible PCI card with latest mfg driver file (Rosewill RC-304)
- Port address is correct in Mach3
- G540 in Keling box (pre-wired)...
Curious about this myself, as I'm in the same boat.
I did point Mach3 to the PCI port address too, but get the same results listed above.
What is the make/model of that spring loaded unit you show?
Did you ever get any further info to your question?
Regards,
Frank
So how much $ down would you need to proceed on the 36"x24"x6" Kit?
Do you have a working unit in your shop I could come by to see in person?
With 4th axis?
How much for the 4th axis?
I'm about...
What is your turn around time for the 36"x24"x6" Kit? Is it in stock or would you have to work it up?
Also, is that 2" or 3" 8020 for the gantry beams?
Thanks!
Frank
I haven't ruled out a ready-built one yet. I was under the impression that I'd be able to build one with better components for the same money, or the same quality for less (not including my time of...
Educated myself on these terms:
- Accuracy = The ability to machine a part to a specified size. The closer the part is to the program design the better the accuracy.
- Repeatability = The...
As far as .001" accuracy goes, I don't need to hold that particular number from one end to the other, just in the general area of operation. When doing cue inlays most of the work takes place in an...
Hey guys,
I’m looking to build a fairly stout moving gantry CNC in the 24”x 36”x 6” +/- range. I basically just started my research but I know (or at least think I know) that I want it to have...
