Here is what I cam up with it is not 100% I have only made the 1 holder so far. the blade needs a little adjustment.
I wanted to create that same setup.

I wanted to build this thing to be strong and last a long time. Cutting surface is 30"x 48" plus a 3" over hang cut for an end vise.

I think if you put the counterweight on a lineal slide that is rigid would not be whipping around. With the my guess 10-15# on the Z and a little cable with a pulley. the cable would not come off...
I think the counter weight idea is best. using pulley to pulley for the transfer. It would make the motor work easier too.
