I think I am going to pass on this machine and try to find a Fadal that has at least at 30"X travel. It doesn't look like the price point between the VMC10, VMC15, 3016 or 4020's are that huge of a...
I am looking at a 1993 VMC 10 about 5mi from my house to upgrade from an old knee mill Mach3 retrofit. I have been reading the forum and from what I can tell the Fadals are decent mills with good...
Thank you for all the help and I look forward towards your video.

Once I get a handle on things one of the parts that I am hoping to make is a velocity stack plate/adapter for an intake manifold. This would have a radius like the test part but then it will have a...
I am looking forward to your video. I have been kicking around the idea of trying to get the 4th axis version when I upgrade to V28 as at some point I would like to build a rollover fixture for my...
When I changed to the (correct for my machine) Mach3 post processor the last couple lines changed to the following:
N7050 X.8888 Y1.3174 Z-.4871
N7051 G00 Z.2
N7052 Z1.
N7053 M09
N7054 M05...
Well, everything went well with my first attempt - other than at the very end of the program the machine decided it was going to go to y0...of the machine coordinates instead of the work coordinates....
Yes, I am using a 3axis knee mill (~24"x16"x5" travel) with a 5hp NMTB30 spindle so tool changes are manual. I am running aluminum. I will let you know how the toolpaths work out.
Brian
Thank you - that helped out a lot.
I was able to generate NC code based on your advice - I am going to try and cut a part today and see how it turns out.
Is it worth trying to say drill a 3/4"...
I have version 27, Mill Pro, 3 Axis.
I have been using Bobcad for a number of years doing 2.5D work. I have a need to starting using some 3 axis work. To test a toolpath I need to cut I took a 3x3x.5" cube and cut a 2x2 pocket all the...
I am in the finishing stages of full size 3 axis mill conversion using Mach3, a C11 BOB from cnc4pc, Gecko 203v's and Keling KL34H2160-62-8A steppers with a 72V/20A power supply from Keling as well....
It has only taken me two plus years to get back to this, but I have the conversion pretty much complete minus a few finishing touches.
I have built/modified a z-axis drive for the mill from parts...
Very nice. A couple quick questions. Could you give me some approximate dimensions of your gantry side plates? I was going to design mine differently but really like how yours came out.
For...
I might be interested. I live in Toledo so that shouldn't be too far out of the way. I have been debating between something like these lathes or a newer style. Does anyone know if a 3 jaw chuck is...
Thanks. To me the biggest unknown is knowing how big of an object I could chuck up in the lathe. From the way the dealer sounded they just wanted to get rid of it. We looked at a couple other cnc...
I am looking at an American Way AW-100 cnc lathe at the local mahine dealer. I cannot find much info on this machine. It does have a gang tool bar on the slide. I am not sure what the swing is. I...
I am getting the last few dimesions nailed down on my new 4x4 table and have two questions.
What is generally a good size (width and height) for the slats and what is a good depth for how deep the...
I am trying to narrow down my list of drive options for the new plasma table I want to build. I am planning on a table somewhere between 4'x4' and 5'x10'.
The three options I have on the table...
I am getting ready to start a cnc plasma build. I am looking for recommendations for what a good size table would be to build. I am a hobbyist and for the most part I figure I will be cutting...
Weldtutor, I have been following your build for a while and am getting ready to start my own build. My plan is to build a table that will handle a 4x4 piece of metal. I recently purchased a used...
Yeah, that sounds about like what I want to do. What kind of rpms are you using to get those feed rates?
I didn't think about using compressed air to get the chips cleared.
Thanks!
Brian
I would figure most of the time it would be no more than 1/8". This would basically be for engraving text, etc so I can't imagine needing to go deeper than that. I know the testing I was doing the...
Thanks, I was actually just doing some reading of some comments the guys from Gecko said about the nema 42's having great holding torque but the nema 34's beat them in linearity and speed everytime. ...
Thanks Dennis.
I can get this stepper from Keling for $279 and it is 2830 in/oz.

The only down side to this stepper is that I believe my lovejoy...
I am looking at possibly replacing my nema 42 stepper motors on my knee mill with servo motors. I am very familar with stepper motor operation but I am still learning about the servos.
How are...
After breaking a few 1/16" end mills tonight until I figured out that I had my feed rate set too high I figured out that the spindle on my bridgeport style mill just can't spin fast enough to run a...
It has been a while since I posted. I had to purchase a VFD to get the spindle to work and I was able to get the mill up and functioning. Using BobCam to generate my gcode I have made some chips. ...
Thanks! I will try this.
