By using both the part and material lines you can do external tool paths as well as pockets. I am doing most of my work this way now. Saves on tool life, time and a good finish. Using the wall...

You might do alright with a packgae like this
EBay sale Item number: 380081484722
I have purchased from this company before with pretty good results.

Pulling an idea from another thread, how many here are running their Haas machines on 3 phase convertors or other power generators because 3 phase power is not availalbe in cost effective manner to...
Maybe we should do a survey to see how many shops are running on phase convertors and relay that to Haas for their information.
I think there is a different business model developing around small...
This is the exact type of system that I was talking about. I agree that a 30HP phase convertor will run your VF2 or any other 20HP Haas.
Have a great Day.

When we first started the machine shop, I bought SurfCam and my partner bought BobCad ver 19. We were both able to produce productive parts with the SurfCam but then we got a day of onsite training...
Thanks again for the help. It was a ground short(Alarm 161) in the wire can and then a broken power line(Alarm 103) to the motor. It is always the simple things that are hard to find.

Take a stong look at SurfCam and Truemill feature. BobCad is a good inexpensive applications but you just got a really nice machine, don't handycap yourself with old technology. It like...

It was a broken wire.

Thats not too bad a price, we pay more for both service and driving by about 25% for Haas Service.

One of the ealier post in this thread was so kind as to send this link for us .
http://www.camcadtech.com/truemill_speeds_and_feeds.htm
It is a web version of the spreadsheet that I was given by...
I would think that you could, should run at higher rpm and feeds. Maybe 6000 rpm and 80 ipm with a TEA of 80 or more. DOC at 0.75". Most of the work has been done with 4 flute endmills and they...
This old Haas is not built that heavy, I am getting far more than I ever thought I could so why risk damaging an old machine.

Eurisko,
Thank you so much for your simple, easy to understand explanation.
The books I am reading say the same thing, but in a convoluted, confusing way.
This I can understand.

Hi,
I am still trying to figure out my CNC Lathe.
I need a simple way to figure out feed rates for tapping.
Specifically, I need to tap using a 5/8x18 tap.
I know it's probably very simple, but I...
On Haas's web site they refer to a problem with server 2003 and have a fix for it. I can't find it right now but I know I saw it there not long ago.

One more thing, you will need at least two Kurt vises and I like to have a couple of 1 1/2" to 2" aluminum plates machined both sides as large as your total work area.
On one side I drill and...
I have a 1992 Haas VF-0 that we use daily, at one time last year I was machining an end on a long bar and popped the plexiglass out of the left hand side of the enclosure. I have tried a couple of...

I am not trying to discourage you but just wanted to share a little of what cost me so much time and effort. I wish you the very best in your efforts. By the way some of the Haas...
We bought our Haas VF-0 1992 sight unseen and untested but it had a 4th axis on it that I wanted and have yet to use. It took me awhile to learn how to maintain and run it.
We also bought...
Serviceman;
thank you for your detailed input. I will file this for later use. I do appreciate the information so clearly written.

Lesson long learned. Call Selway and have them fix the problem and put your time into producing parts. You will end up doing calling them sooner or later and your machine is either running dry or...
SurfCam Velocity 3, 2 1/2 D, user here, have been with it for 9 years or so. Like all tools it has it's good points and it's bad features. There feature that has really changed how I machine is the...
Ok, I have discovered that I need this parameter manual. It did not come with my Takisawa. I did not know there was one until I was reading my other Takisawa books in depth.
What I really need is...
