Very, very impressive!!!

Long story short.....
When the spindle and head move over the chosen tool, a pneumatic cylinder actuates and opens the "fingers" in the spindle taper. The taper then drops down on the toolholder...
I have been reading about power supplies here, and most replies about voltages vary greatly. These
are the motors I have. They are Vexta PK 268-02A 2 phase 4.5 volt, 2 amp/phase. My questions are...
Sure does! Thanks!!

Are you sure that URL is correct? I keep getting
"server cannot be found"

So it sounds like I am better off running my motors at half wind to acheive the higher power at higher speeds?
Thanks for your replies!
JD
OK, I think I may understand this. If using legs 1 and 2 you get full torque at low speed . And if using leg 1 and the center tap (half wind) you get better high speed torque?

What are the advantages/disadvantages of wiring a 6 wire stepper in half wind mode as opposed to full wind mode? I believe it was WOODKNACK who said he wired his motors with the center tap and 1 leg...
A piece of 12" I beam is probably at least 3/4" thick and probably a couple hundred pounds at 6' in length. Unless it is formed, (1/8" sheet)but I have never seen the stamped and formed sheets ending...
Mariss,
I think you hit the nail right on the head with that. I don't think very highly of lawyers either!
Awesome idea!
Very Impressive!!!!
Good point! And you have the hot wire(black) going to the neutral side of the plug. Just switch the black and white wires around.

Are you sure it isn't out of a laser printer or something??
Thats exactly what I needed to know, thank you! Are most machines set up like this?
Don
Sorry about that Paul! I was talking about the servos he donated for the contest. You have a really good thing going on. Your forum is unbelieveable. I must have read almost every post on the boards....
Jeff,
I think it's an awesome thing you're doing here!!
I haven't built my machine yet, I'm still working on getting everything together.I will probably start with 48x48 inches in structural aluminum.
I hope to have some new servos in 1 week and a day :D...
That makes the most sense, but I wasn't sure. I haven't seen any hand-wheels on any of the home-built machine pictures. I guess you would jog it off the stop instead of dialing it?
I've got some questions for you guy's that have built your machines.
1)Homing the machine. How do you send the machine home? Or where do you set machine "zero"? Do you let it limit out on the limit...
I'm gonna have to guess 6/17/03
