Adjusting Servo Gains
Usually that problem is caused by the drive ready signal being stuck on. The software is waiting for a signal to come on that is already one.
What control? 900 for 950?
I don't think you can do that on the 950 control.
You have to use T registers and a counter.

Is this a maxim or magnum?
No. Version 1, version 2, and version 3 950's all used MFM drives at some point. It appears the original poster has disappeared anyway.
Cincinnati (now FIVES) also offers flash based hard drives for these machines, developed in house by their field service department. So let me throw out calling 800-934-0735, option 4, option 2 and...
Probably a little late here. If your machine has the old style MFM drive, they have a tendency to "stick" if they have been setting. The Seagate 20mb drives were notorious for this. If this is the...
The Servo fail can be caused by the gain adjustment on the drive being set incorrectly. Look at my not quite ready for the world page here: Henning Machine Tool Repair and read the article on gain...
PM me your email and I can send you a pinout. I have it as a .jpg and I'm too lazy to type it out.
You definitely want to use hardware handshaking.
Set the control up for protocol 1, data bits are fixed at 8, N parity, and 1 stop bit. Set the PC up for 7, E, 2, and make the baud rates match....
Those machines aren't my specialty, but I'm pretty sure the B models had the newer style (yet still obsoleted) Siemens axis drives. The 'A' models had the older "open frame" style of Siemens axis...
Great news about getting the machine up!!!! As far as the power supplies go, most of your trouble is going to be with the large +5 and +12v power supply in the front of the drawer. The 5v channel...
Hmm, something sounds odd here. By chance you didn't accidentally get the one of the slot 6 or 7 processor boards in the wrong slot did you? Also is it possible that the CPU board you replaced is the...
I'm assuming you are getting the "not enough good boards" while the control boots up. This usually means a bad processor in the system or wrong processor in the system. Sometimes having too many...
You never mentioned what kind of control you had. On the 850/850sx/950 controls, you want to use a G61 statement. The 2100 control has a table you can define for the selectable acc/dec profiles. A...

Sounds like we're gonna have to roll up our sleeves and dig into this one. Give me a call @ 316.290.9470.

Hmm. What do you have in MAI commissioning data 4?
Go to machine setup, access, service, MAI COM
Hopefully you've got it working by now. You can use the pendant in any mode as long as you are not executing a part program. Press the handwheel button on the panel, pick an axis and increment and...
I hate admit it, but I fought this problem for years at a customers shop on one machine. It was a 20vc 3 axis. It ended up being the wiring that went to the control. That machine had the op station...
The service switch isn't a problem. There is a switch on the control itself in the cabinet to turn it off. It basically turns the service menu off. I usually tell people to leave it on so you don't...
My website is www.henningmachine.com, but I'm not real proud of it. I kinda thew it together to get my 950 monitor stuff going.
I'm not one for advertising/spamming, but give me a call or shoot...
I haven't had time to update my website ( in a couple of years ) but I've been making the 2100 pendant housings out of 1/4" aluminum. They look pretty rugged. Price is $250, and they have a lifetime...
I've seen this before on the tool changer when the wires were broken to the tool drum jog motor. They tend to break where the drum "hinges" at the back near where the air cylinder mounts. I fought...
Give me a call, I might have one.

hmm, I thought some of those were setup with an mtb commisioning data that you had to change in order for it to enable the drive.
Call Cincinnati @ 800.934.0735
If they can't help you let me...
If you already have the fd3 and the 3.5" floppy then at some point you should have been supplied a floppy with the machine software on it, unless the hardware is from a different machine.
If you...
The problem is you will also need the FD3 card that controls the floppy drive. If you already have that, the next thing is software. The software on the Big Blue actually needs to be rewrote to see...
