My $.02 - why not just contract with someone here (or local in your area) to make the parts for you? Later on if & when you need more then perhaps you can afford to tool up.

My $.02 - why not just contract with someone here (or local in your area) to make the parts for you? Later on if & when you need more then perhaps you can afford to tool up.
Can I do this with the square end cutter I'm using? Tried it lightly and seems there's a lot of chatter so I stopped.
How many passes would this take to do this on a real vertical mill? And what rpm should I be using?
Anyway, it worked! Took several passes but it came out pretty good. Rpm I used was 700
Figured that but thought if I go easy with it...
Maybe I would need a tabletop machine - but have to be cheap!
I plan to mill a 1/2" wide by .150" deep slot in some 3/8" 6061 flat stock using a 1/2' diameter, 4 flute HSS cutter. But I only have a drill press to use. I am building a holder (wood) for the...
Need some one to thread one end of 2" acrylic tubing (1/16 wall) - thread 24 tpi x 1/4" length on exterior of tubing. I will supply tubing - one for trial, then more to follow - assorted lengths of...
Guess what??
STILL LOOKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
COMPLETED
Still looking - can provide pictures and info privately on where I am at with the project - plus see thread under hot wire machines. Sort of got the machine working but have many "bugs" to work out.
Need 2 pcs - 1/8 x 1-1/4 x 24" steel or aluminum flat stock with 18 holes (.135-.140"*) all drilled thru located .20" from one long edge and spaced 1.301" from each other starting 1" from one end.
...
Customers are screaming for product - backlogged months - still looking for help - anyone?
Still looking. Cutting large volume (several thousand) pieces from 1.5" thick soft polyurethane foam - can provide material for test cutting.
I don't think "crude" is the word and so what if it is?
It's reliable.
It's cheap.
It works.
Just seems like some people here aren't aware of Ohm's law. Also, I shake my head at those...
I still wonder why anyone bothers using things like a variac or other complex circuitry to control the current in NiCr (resistance) wire.
All you need is to add resistance (more NiCr wire) in...
Actually, forget it - it's easier for me to just hire somebody to make parts for me manually, the way I have done for many years, then to build a machine.
Hello - well I've been away from this site for quite a while; busy with many things. Also since I couldn't get any real help here, had kind of given up.
RE: the previous post by brihoo2k - here's...
Try again
I give up - if anyone wants it, I will sell all the equipment (hardware & software, steppers, etc.) I bought for this project for $100.
Here's pictures of some of the stuff - there's more of the...
Well, maybe just post a time and place here with contact info for you and see what happens?
OK, count me in too, however I see nothing here about any meetings.
So what is this - another go nowhere thread?
Wow - a response! Details? Did you bother to look at my lengthy thread under hot wire machine forum????
Look up a local electronics guru? OK, I've checked with several and they don't have a clue....
useless
Still requesting help!
What happened to all those who posted here previously??
Now going on 3-1/2 years since this thread was started!!
There, wow! See how much help you get here.
See post #4 (on first page) of this thread.
Look over my posts and posted links. Ridiculously long time here!
