Thank Tyler,
I think it is beyond repair. The micro is toasted. I was debugging a problem with my probe and had a ground wire setup to do this. The wire slipped out of my grip and raked across...
Thanks John,
I called and left a couple of messages with my phone number.
I fried the spindle driver board on my NM-145 and would like to get up and running again ASAP. Anyone out there that retrofitted their mill willing to part with one? This is the small daughter...
The NM-145 is out of production. I got mine in a close-out deal at the time. They now have two new much nicer models that I am constantly drooling over.
I've been running the mill daily and have had no issues with the drive. I did drop Mach3 as a control software and went with a KFlop a couple of years ago.
Are you sure that this is for the PathPilot front end or simply the source for the coordinated motion source code? The work Kernal normally implies only the low level software.
Ray,
What tool are you using for your chamfers?
Eric
In may case I build a pneumatic over hydraulic pressure booster so there is no torque to speak of from tightening . I'm waiting for the pin to shear away eventually and I guess I'll see!
I'm probably going to have the same problem. I'm setup to use the TTS system and my collet sticks. I normally have to give the tool a rap with a rubber hammer. Looking at the pin, it's wore half...
I made them several years ago. I don't recall which reamer I ended up using.
I know that they are a very secure fit and easily pull a vacuum when you pull out the cutter with your thumb sealing the...
Interesting read Tom. Thanks for taking the time to post this. Rigid tapping is something I'd love to implement at some point. I've been considering retrofitting a small bicycle disk brake to the...
Yep, I know what you mean. I ended up making my own in 1/8" and 3/16". While I was at it, I also make more 1/4" and 3/8". Run-out was kept to a minimum by drilling the hole undersize on the lathe,...
What I did on my X2 was reverse the nut so that it was facing the front of the machine, and using a hole saw, cut a larger hole in the base that the nut could pass through. That gained me quite a...
I use two rectangular cat litter containers. One is about half the height of the other and stacks nicely into the taller one. The short one has holes drill in the bottom. Excess coolant will drain...
I have been working on my own version of KMotionCNC for quite some time now and have it running with the Russion ShuttleRu STM pendant.

GD,
I would consider keeping the motherboard and probably the SS separate from the VFD. The VFD can be pretty noisy.
Glad it's looking better! It took me a while to trust increasing the chip load. It's just a matter of finding that sweet spot. Early on, I would break a 1/8" end mill so I kept decreasing the feed...
Your feeds seem way low at that RPM. At 6000 RPM, I normally cut at 35-40 in/min. Your DOC is backed off enough to compensate for lack of rigidity. .125" DOC is pretty normal for slotting with a...
Your cutter isn't squealing while cutting is it? A high pitch squeal can cause enough high frequency vibration that it will allow your cutter to pull out. I've had this happen a few times with a...
Hi Ray,
I just wanted to let you know that I'm sure I'm not alone that I look forward to your posts in this thread and the lack of responses occasionally certainly doesn't mean we aren't reading and...
I vote pendant as well without a doubt. I have both and the touch screen doesn't work well if your hands are at all wet. If any coolant drops get on the screen, the touch logic goes wacko.
Eric
I have update drivers for the earlier model, the ShuttleRU LCD and ShuttleRU LCD-Status as well if anyone needs them.
Eric
Hi Conwanrg,
I have a new plugin prepared for you. I looks like the one Andrey has on his site is quite old and not the latest I had sent him. I'll need to get him to update it.
You can download...
I don't use Mach3 anymore since setting up my KFlop. I've made extensive changes to the KMotionCNC code to include the ShuttleRU functionality. In doing so, I've made some improvements to the...
Are you using the stock plugin? I didn't like the Green/Red shift key either for the same reason. My plugin allows you to designate a button as a temporary shift to red. Any key that involves...
I would go to the DelCAM website and select the Contact option. You should be able to send them a message to find out the closest reseller or how to purchase internationally.
If you machine down the gib to get rid of the thick end, you will still be left with an improper taper. Here is a technique that will fix that.
I did a rebuild of a CNC mill a while back. I ended...
Amount of high spots is only one aspect of it. Parallelism between the two sides is just as important. My saddle had had high spots on opposite ends-opposite sides. Taking the saddle off wasn't...
Unfortunately, there isn't room for the between the nut and the bottom of the table for the oil line. I used some capillary tubing I had laying around, held in place with silicon glue to feed the...
