The newest software for the Haas control can directly load and run Fadal programs...:)...click here, and then click "FADAL Program Converter" http://www.haascnc.com/custserv_updates.asp#manualupd
IPM and IPR are both "correct"...most people use IPM because it's traditional, and it's default.
IPR is nice though if say you've got a cut where the surface finish is very critical and exacting...
There is an indicator...right on the screen it will say High Gear or Low Gear.
I don't want to sound rude...but I think your first investment should be a manufacturing engineer with a lot of machine shop experience. Your second investment should be a few Haas's
Maybe someone with an older machine can look and post it up for you.
Look on the disk (or USB Thumb Drive) that shipped with your machine for program 9876. However, if you don't have the macro programming option, you probably won't be able to re-load the program onto...
I'm not going to touch the argument regarding turning on the expanded memory, I will tell you that if you have the unlock code for it for your machine, it is parameter 737, bit 2. You will need the...
Every lathe I've ever used in my life does this...I've lost count of how many cuts it will continue to make really really tiny chips. It has a LOT to do with what type of edge the tool has, what...
it's all drawn with live image...chuck, soft jaws, stock, tools...
Well I'm glad to hear we're beginning to find the issue...I really strongly suggest getting some 0.001" shim stock to verify your contact with the jaws after you're boring them...I usually bore a...
I didn't visit the forum after my last post before coming back home, sorry about that...Greg I DO recognize you now, was a pleasure talking to you.
Anyone recognize the man in black standing in...
I haven't met any of you forum/zone guys yet in the Haas booth...but I assure you, I'm there (well right now I'm in the hotel up the street...but tomorrow I'll be there again).
The new drill/tap...
Any chance they're actually frying when you plug them into the PC and not when you remove them from the Haas machine?
Have you considered going back to a soft jaw (much better choice in my opinion)? Have you used a 0.001" shim to verify that your current chuck jaws are actually contacting the part over their entire...
SRT Mike, I sent you a private message.
Then you should read my previous post regarding waiting for the light to stop flashing, and you should also look into making sure you discharge any static electricity from your own body before...
Based on what I know about memory, both solid state (flash/ram and so on) versus physical (like a physical hard drive), there is no need to defragment solid state memory. The machine can access any...
I'll be working in the Haas booth for Westec too, say hi if you see me. (I'll also be at Eastec for the whole show since thats the show thats 20 minutes from my job at HFO Hartford).
On your list programs screen it will specifically say "press origin before eject". If it doesn't say that, you don't need to worry about it.
Just make sure the light on the drive is done flashing before you unplug it...thats how you know the machine is done reading/writing from it.
Also for what it's worth, I've found that drives with...
I never recommend going below 1/32 on a contact tool setter...have I gone smaller successfully? Yes, would I trust it every day? No.
For what it's worth, your HFO can retrofit a non-contact tool...
I've been meaning to get a video camera and take some videos of some of the cutting demo's I've done...I think you can go a bit faster :)
Which 10K spindle did you get? There are 2 drive options (20 and 30 horsepower)...20 horsepower is available with and without a gearbox, 30 horsepower only comes with it.
The probe package...
You're doing it the hard way.
Go to your settings page, and turn setting 23 off.
Go to list programs mode, then press the "Posit" button. At the bottom you will see instructions on what to do...
You really shouldn't be messing around in Debug if you don't know what you're doing (ie trained at the factory) as you can cause some serious damage to the machine almost instantly in debug just by...
Haas has never sold a lathe with a Y axis.
If it's less than a year old, its still in warranty, call your HFO and tell them there's a strange noise from the gearbox and ask them to run a vibration analyzer on it.
For what it's worth, if...
The reply after yours overcomplicated what I have it to...I simly say
S3000 M03;
G00 G53 X0.;
G00 G53 Z0.;
G00 G53 X-10.; (change this value to whatever number you want that won't crash)
G00 G53...
You can probably push the depth of cut higher to bring the spindle load up closer to 100%...if the tool is nice and rigid and not chattering, the insert life will probably still be excellent.
I've...
