Where do you get the ASTEC ps from - I called a couple places and they say its been discontinued. Any help would be great......

You dont need a spindle encoder for Helical. Need one for rigid tapping. Will look up option parameter later.

Any experience on which AMC amps work best with size 5/10/20 motors? I know which ones to use but would like to hear feedback from anyone whos actually done it and see how well they perform??
You have the wrong plc program
Go to utility screen F7 it will say which PLC program you have
Sorry I've been busy and havent had a chance to check in here.
For keyboard jogging to work you need the correct PLC program -
M39kdc3p.src and m39kdc3c.src otherwise machine control functions...
Dan , you dont happen to know how to program PLC Eproms for the old 6's do you? I have one of the old suitcase programmers but no books or info on how to use it. I have a couple test bed 6's that...
Look on config screen for control page - then try changing console type to keyboard.
OVC is an overcurrent alarm - probably axis in a bind
Are you running dos or linux? Go to F7 utility page and it will show. If dos longer than 8 characters will be truncated and you'll have to type in the shorter name.
702 will not come from spindle , only servos
702 is overheat of servo motors. If motors are not hot then look for a bad temp sensor in motors. Are the motors yellow or black cap?
If yellow cap check pins R & S on amphenol connector on motor...
Live out in Fulshear - west of Katy. I drive in traffic all day long - so I'm used to it -somewhat.
Dont have a book with me to see what alarm stands for , but since its a 3 axis circular move on line 114 , I'd say yuour control doesn't have the Helical option turned on.
Some shear plates just have small ( about .25 dia )pin between plates. If its this type just make a new pin be sure to cut a relief in middle, that could get you going again. Order some from Daewoo...
trying new signature
If memory serves me right the Daewoos do have shear plates on each axis. Look right where the motor is you'll see between motor shaft and ballscrew 2 plates with a ball bearing between them. The ball...
Manual sent
Hope this helps
Terry
When punching out parameters press EOB and output start, this will send out the 900's also. Check out www.memex.ca thats who I use for memory upgrades.
I can sell you the stuff need for upgrading...
Email me the SN off control. I'll get you info on a manual. What version software is on it? - Go to utility screen F7 - it will say there.

Requires extra RAM chips. If you turn on the option bit for more memory than control has chips - you will get a 910/911 RAM memory alarm and will have to dump all memory - not pretty.
Its doughtful that the problem is coming from the PLC, more likely a limit switch, solenoid or adjustment on tool changer. If you put a new PLC on it you may still have same problem.....
You ran it too far one way - will have to run it past end and then chain will rewrap in correct way - up = up , dn = dn. not sure if you do it by going farther up or down. This will get you going in...
Speed control is not done by control other than outputing a up/dn to air valve solenoids. system has no feedback to see speed. My guess is when you were pushing valve manually or when Linux hickuped...
What kind of a machine do you have? If it is a Bridgeport CNC Boss4/5/6 style then speed control is done with a vari disk setup and may just need to loosen nut on front of dial and turn till speed...
I never do a repair of a Fanuc AC spindle without rebuilding the board, if you dont the IGTB will blow again - maybe not right away but soon. My megger outputs DC voltage - actually 1000vDC.
On Fanuc AC drives phasing doesn't matter, I've always been leary of line starting FANUC spindle motors - not sure if they are rated for that inrush. If you do try a megger make sure you disconnect...
Actually correct parameter is 63.0 (farthest to right) should be a 1.
Terry
THere is a parameter to change this - I'll look it up in maintenance manual. In first 30 or so params if I remember
As of present I would not recommend using the Centroid with a glass scale feedback. If machine is tight with little backlash would work OK. But control is so responsive that the lost motion between...
