Yup, the power wires go into the transformer. Good point on there being no power switch; shouldn't be too hard to wire one inline with the power wires before they hit the xformer.

Not sure. If there is a hardware component, shouldn't be too tough to install with the modular PCB on the new controller. Then you of course have the hardware involved in the DRO install.
