The older Gecko 320 only used a +5v common for step/dir. The newer G320X can have a common +5v or Negative.

I am trying to hook up a Proma THC SD to my Gecko G320 servo drive on a new Plasma build.
The Proma wiring diagram attached looks simple enough but the G320 has a step, direction and common s/d +5v...
Try Vector Graphics, Avery Graphics and FDCPaint Mask from Beacon Graphics, LLC
Make sure 2nd Generation controller box is checked in your machine setup. I've also had this happen from trying to use the wrong type of serial cable.
The HF mini lathe is too small to do it on.
Just take a piece of masking tape at each end across the joint between the end caps and the motor casing. Take a razor knife and cut it right along the joint. When you put it back together everything...
The motors need to be disassembled. Matchmark each end with some masking tape. Be careful, there are shims at the end at the bearing where the encoder shaft goes. Keep the parts for each motor...
Digits,
Did you ever try the dual servos. How did it workout? I'm thinking of doing the same.
Bert
Try this.

Just hook up the appropriate step/dir output to your xylotex board.

Erase,
Try increasing the acceleration scale. It increases the amount of time the machine takes to accelerate, which should smooth it out substantially. It worked for me anyway.

Is there any way to convert bobart ".bart" files to stl, dxf or any other format usable by programs other than bobcad.
Thanks
Bert
Thanks Toby. I'm sure it's something simple. All I'm trying to do is set the z coordinates to 1.00".
I'm using a DeskCnc controller on a homebuilt router.
I just finished setting up a touch plate to home my z axis. It is .375" thick. I wrote a script to raise the bit by .625" which puts the bit +1.00" above my material. What g code and syntax do I use...
DeskCnc is a cam software and controller package (generates your your step pulses externally instead of through your parallel port). It uses the serial port. It is supposed to generate higher pulse...
You might want to look at VCarve Pro.
I presume your talking about carving a photo in DeskCnc?
I usually try to remove the background first in a different program. After loading in DeskCnc click on the carve tab, set the size. I...
I had a salesman call me trying to get me to upgrade my BobCad v19 which I haven't used in a long time. I told him I might be interested in BobArt if it would do 3d like artcam or MC art by using a...
Go into setup, then machine velocities. Raise the acceleration scale number. This will increase the acceleration time which should smooth it out some. You may need to fiddle with the acceleration...
You probably need to adjust your acceleration settings. What software are you using?
I used Hiwin rails on my recent router project. They work just fine. I haven't used THK so I can't give a comparison.
I've got 2 of the 1617EVS. They hold up well and they're quiet, especially if you are running at less than full speed.
Good idea. I can only go up to what my 6" calipers will measure. I'm wondering about the belt stretch now. I may need to rework a few things and get the belts tighter. I put idlers in on each side,...
Good points. I'll have check them all out. I probably will not have time to do a whole lot until next weekend. I'll try to post the code tonight when I get home.
One thing that comes to mind is that...
I tried comparing the g code on each program. I really haven't gotten to the part about understanding g code yet...so it doesn't tell me anything.
I did check the backlash on each side. It's not but...
JFettig, I thought at first that it might be out of square. I set it to square by cutting a groove in x and y. Using feeler gauges to measure, then adjusting one side with a dial indicator while...
Acondit, these are the dimensions in the x direction
I've used a dial indicator on the gantry to measure a 1" move. I went back out and checked it on both sides. While it is still out of adjustment by about .0035" they are within a half a thousandth of...
I recently finished my second machine. I spent a little time trying to adjust all the settings. So I set it up to cut 3" test squares in mdf. On my Y axis...no problem...just make a minor adjustment...

"has any one had a degree of success with the photo carving portion of deskcnc?"
I"ve been fairly happy with DeskCnc for carving photos. I've got a few in my photo gallery....all done on...
