pepperwood,
I have a almost new 2019CR-ER setup with a 4axis xylotex board & 269oz motors. This is my backup mill that has only been used for 1 hour. I don't need 2 mills anymore so I am selling...
Looks good, you have to make sure you still are keeping the Z axis true perpendicular when you tighten the side bolts down.
Wow thats a pretty sweet support device! Can you buy those already made or do I have to make one?
Here's what I did to extend the Z axis. I took the column to a welder and had him weld some more...
Hey Mark! Long time no see! Any Heli flying lately? Trains? Nice taig mill setup! Your motors look a little small though ;) I actually have 2 taig mills now, one with the G540 and the other...
Since last year I have taken iointerrupt's design and have re-done the circuit with a new board. I have used surface mount components, adding in some nice features and have made this into a...
Ok finally got my other mill setup and ran some temp tests. The results are below and you may have to think about this kinda hard. I did see 70c weeks ago when I was running my mill really hard for...
160F seems hot for no load. I've measured 130F to 155F (55c to 68c) on my 2.8A 269oz motors after 1 hour running my cnc machine, using a 48V psu and G540. That was with loads.
My motor specs say...
Finally someone comes forward with some real information! I didn't know these variables and maybe thats why the motors were cooler before. Thanks
Now that you tell me those things, I realize...
Well I will run it like it is for a while. Thanks. I should have my other CNC machine up with the 24V power supply and xylotex board soon. I will compare the temps then.
I checked and they are 2.78k ohms off pin 1 and 5. I have some machining to do today I will check the temps after an hour of strait running.
Is there a easy way to step down the voltage further? ...
They are 2.8K behind the stepper motors. The xylotex steppers are 2.8A phase.
I am running the speeds faster. I have my rapids at 35 ipm, and I've seen blended speeds up to 48 ipm.
I'm not real worried, but I like to keep things cool!
Sorry for the delay on my testing, I have not tested the amps yet, but the 48V power supply is getting my steppers really hot. I even have the power supply adjusted down to 40V, and the Y axis motor...
I should have mentioned it was the same setup as the one I have now, just I'm using the Gecko driver on one and the xylotex on the other. :D I will report back my findings :)
Thanks, I did state the motors and amps in the first post. 2.8 amp, 269oz motors.
By your calculation 2.8 +2.8 + 2.8 = 8.4 amp * .67 = (5.628 amps) This is a good place to start and be on the...
Thanks, I have just decided to get a PS-240-48. 5 amp (240W) switching power supply. Its like having a 10 amp, 24V. So plenty of power for me. :D
Ok guys I've scanned the forums and googled forever but I just want to be clear on some things. I've been running my G540 with a 24V 6.5amp power supply for the last week and it seems fine. I have...
I've been running a 1/4hp 3450rpm motor for about 3 years on my Taig mill. I've been cutting Aluminum most of the time at the max 9800rpms with the highest pulley setting, at around 4 ipm, with...
I have my backlash speed 3% of max. I would put your backlash at .002" I never have my over that. Right now mines Y.001" and X.0015"
The problem is your Z axis leadscrew nut is wore out and...
Sounds like you may not have a binding issue, since your problem is off and on.
Could be:
what line of code is it failing on? Or is it rapid? make sure your radius' are more then the tooling...
I don't want to slide of topic here but here is everything:
When I jog manually with the keyboard the speeds stay what they are sopposed to be. Its when its running the code that it happens. ...
Great thread guys I have been running my Taig CNC mill for over 2 years now, even extended the Y to 6.25". I have my rapid speed set at 22ipm. Anything over 30ipm I start to loose steps. A problem...
First of I would take the stepper off and manually slide the Y saddle casting back and fourth, feel it, wiggle it etc.. see if its loose or too tight even in certian spots.
Just a couple tips,
...
If you can take some video of it happening that may help. I've been running my CNC taig for over 2 years now.
After I set the lead screw nuts I have .001 to .0015" backlash on the dials.
Thanks for the quotes guys, some were really high and some where quite nice ;) Things are on hold at the moment though. Will email back those that had the best price when i decide to have them...
Austin Texas Area, the distance doesn't bother me. They are simple parts. The 16.0mm dims can be a little less if finding that size stock is hard.
Need a quote for these 2 parts. 250, 500, 1000 of each. A qote for both, bare and silver anodized. I can provided engineered drawings if needed.
Right click, save target as
Yeah I thought about that. I was using almost the smallest size indicated. hmm. Its a number #4, 4-20, 4-24 size screw. Hole size should be wire gauge 44 to 41 i think. .0860" to .0960" OD. I...
I was going to use aluminum and some nice machine screws but the screws that my Boss wants to use for cosmetic reasons break off in aluminum (self tapping phillips). Yes I will be also screwing into...
I have a Air control valve here, and I need to buy some material to make a bracket for it. It is injection molded for sure. What type of plastic is this so i know what it buy. I plan on using self...
