I also suggest Deskproto. Detailed meshes like reliefs are where it really is shines. CAM software for technical parts (like Fusion360) usually can't handle this properly.
You could have a look at DESKPROTO. Version 7 just came out. It work great with huge meshes especially for artistic work like reliefs, busts/statues and jewelry and is very affordable. However it...
the post processor is involved in the simulation in Fusion360?
I didn't ask. stiffethomas did.
I remember there used to be a subforum for DeskProto here.
Was it removed some time ago?
That's how Injection Molding works. Not Design FOR injection molding.
What I know is that you need to have at least a small draft angle (no vertical walls) to be release the part of them mold, make...
Does this anyone have a working M06 macro for an ATC where the tools are in different locations (no chain) and with a height probe sensor placed on somewhere?
I would use it as a starting point to...
The USOVO ATC-attachments for cheap hand-routers have a runout of about 4/100mm.
BUT.....
did anyone meassure the runout of the WZW104 (air cooled) and WZW105 (water cooled) spindles?
Thea are...
There hasn't been any update to Geomagic Design Studio since 2015.0.1, has there?
(I have not continued my support contract. So I'm out of the loop on news.)
I have the same chinese 50:1 harmonic drive 4th axis.
It was to be a replacement for an 8:1 belt driven 4th axis to improve holding torque and backlash.
Thanks for pointing this out.
I should...
I have the same problem. The solver is not very good. Often I have to reduce the camfer to 5° or less for a it to find a solution at all, while I want 15° or 25°.
Aparently or can't handle more then...
check that the water pump is not powered from the stepper driver supply.
also check for me proper grounding.
Both to will save you a lot of headaches later on.
Had the same issue. The spindle was stuck =DC motor going low resistance = fuse blown. But the fuse was too slow and the driver chip burned and became basically a wire, conducting the maximum spindle...
alcohol as coolant works fine. you can't get the mist to catch fire even with a torch. need good ventilation though or your going to get the headache of your life.

Factor of 5 sounds like you didn't use metric coordinates.
As for Z, check the free movement height.

My older Blue Box 6040 did not have limit switches and the black box DC-spindle (not VFD) 3040 didn't either.
Both from Carving-CNC.
You would need a machine with a lot of Z travel for that to be effective.
" interested in coding "
=> writing my own CAM.
Also very slowly writing code to integrate this into the CAM module for FreeCAD.
Are the motor couplers tightened down?
I didn't know pie jaws existed.
That sounds like a great way to do it.
I'm currently running a tailstock from the other end for the roughing but have to remove that for the last part of the...
I'm currentl using an aluminium profile as a core.
A round block of wood didn't work because the surface was too smooth and the wax detached from it.
I'm asking for common, tried and true ways to...
The wax is way too soft to be held by 3 jaws. It neraly breaks free under it's own weight doing that.
We're talking 1-2 Kg of carving wax mounted horizontal.
Is anyone else interested in coding inverse kinematic and collision testing for post processing G-code to make proper use of a 4th and 5th axis?
I have done that for my 4030 but not yet for my 6040.
I am still testing the accuracy after this modification before publishing the CAD files and technical drawings.
Turbo squid returns an error 404 when you actually try to download that.
You do know that Google returns different results based on who you are and what country and language you are in.
Made some progress in FreeCAD integration.
Still a long way towards go.

What is the best/common way of mounting a cylinder of carving wax to a 4th (horizontal rotating) axis for milling?
Are there special chucks used or some common material to make cores to grip with...
