Ok, thank you Ger I am eager to add encoders to my existing CNC. Will have to add some circuitry to interface with my encoders and do the positioning.

Thank you for the reply. If I use a servo drive, will it read the absolute position value from the PC in some way or does it also count the step&direction pulses and continuously calculate the...
Is it possible to have position read from scales or encoder vs counting steps?

Is it possible to export the grid points measured? Should give an indication if your problems lie with the grid measurement or processing. You are using copper & tool tip to measure continuity- make...
Closer to 8V is better for the voltage regulator. 9V is a common value. 200mA as per the manual its sufficient

Single turn also, not multiturn. Wattage is irrelevant

I believe any value potentiometer will work eg 10k but must me linear and not logarithmic

I would like a copy of your post please. Will be handy once I complete my desktop laser. [emoji41]

Nice resolution on that board Russ! You even have the diagonal line in the "zero" of the text. My own capabilities are not nearly the yet.

Or if you want to punish yourself, edit the G-Code to lift the bit slightly when you get to the tiny smt pads ;)

Glad you found a solution. The Mk1 software is not going to receive any update (to my knowledge) since it is not compatible with the new TNG software anymore. So the development time will most likely...
There are also quite a number of very thin traces of the copper pour that is distorted and causing shorts to adjacent tracks in your photo. I am myself still trying to find a nice balance with track...
Does look a lot better. Great stuff! You could try adjusting the feed speed down a bit for the force on the smd pads. I am guessing the smd pads get dislodged due to the small area of copper and the...
Cannot hurt to check your laptop power profile is set to "always on" or similar with no power saving options especially the "allow windows to turn off usb to save power" option. Also, have you tried...
Another though tipt @AndreaRoss- what is the width of your cut? If your cut is too shallow (several overstepped routes needed to clear one trace) the worksurface (copper) is being cut by a very small...
I also had some "burring" recently when I used v-bits (multiple flutes) and when I switched to an engraving tool (0.3mm flat edge) the surface looked fine. It is as if certain tools push the material...
No problem @adidoro. I see PlanetCNC support is assisting you.

Did you find the cause @adidoro? Also what OS do you run (dedicated pc?) and antivirus software?

Bought a license for another DIY just now, thank you. I do like the TNG too. Will upgrade my one machine with Mk3/4 unit soon then for the warp feature (amongst others)

Thankyou for the reply. Can I still get licenses for DIY builds?

Hi,
I have a PlanetCNC DIY controller that works great on a home built CNC machine. My current software setup is PlanetCNC Ver 2.10.1701.1001 and HW ver 2014.06.12. I am in the process of building...
