I would just use scratch pad , its quick and there is no chemicals.
Im not familiar with this control , can you post a picture. When you press the MDI button a new screen should appear and then you enter in the g code .

I got a hypertherm 45 that i dont get to use very often. Its an amazing machine and will cut 1/2" steel all day long. Just make sure you have dry air , im using one of those desiccant air dyers.

How deep of a hole are we talking here? U Drills have a flat bottom with some grooves in it , but they are not cheap. Around 300$ for each drill. Cheap option is just to drill with a regular drill...
