You are using a BTR? Behind Tape Reader? Does the machine have a RS232 port?

Do you have the machine pause, change the tool manually, and then continue? Or do you swap out tools?

Rigid tapping requires an encoder on the spindle for position feedback. If it did not have rigid with the old controller it would have to be added. Mine has no spindle encoder.
Kflop is something...
Manually pump the lube a few times and fire it up. Go through the startup in the book as to Cold Start them jog it around to distribute the oil. Many vids on youtube. ATMan Unlimited is good once you...
Title says most of it. Looking for chuck open/close M code so I can run a bar pull operation on longer pieces. Can't find a reference in the manual.
Also, is there a way to retrofit a spindle...
You have no programs in memory, number used says 0.
You have to start a new one.
Type in Oxxx, xxx being the program number you want to use.
Then press the INSERT key to start entering the...
Is the program actually in memory? Check it with, I believe, P and then 1 while in edit mode.

First off, do have a home switch on the X axis? Tools should be set to that known position. Doing the same on Z makes life easier also.

My mistake, you are looking for input_scale=xxxx in your ini file. Change the xxxx to -xxxx, xxxx being your step count. I have never used stepconf but pncconf lets you page through if you select...
Did you use stepconf or pncconfig to set it up? If so then check the box to reverse the axis. If you did a manual install then change the sign of the output_scale in the .ini file.

Get on the Linuxcnc forum, a fellow that goes as Samco has done a gear shifter setup and is very helpful.
The split amplifier most likely will not be supported. Linuxcnc will support up to 9 axis,...
Download the latest version and install it on a USB drive. You can then use it as a live install and test out the latency to see if you have a good candidate. Look under CNC in the dropdown menu.
...
Stay away from laptops. Apart from Linux compatibility is the latency problem, all the power saving items get in the way of realtime performance. If you want to use PCIE and have analog inputs in the...
First find out what inputs the A-B amps use. Are they analog or digital? Encoders or resolvers? The Ethernet cards work fine and are very handy to use. If you want to use a slot then use PCIExpress...
Backlash does not accumulate. When you go one way you lose the backlash and when you return it returns canceling out.

Best guess is the screws heat up and change length. Let it all cool down for an hour and recheck.

Fanuc 3 series is getting old. My lathe with a 3T had a couple of problems and it turned out to be bad connections every time. Connections get crusty with time. Unplug each and every connection and...
Can't say for sure on the BT40 but the CAT40 pull studs are the same as Mazak.

Are you doing the complete homing process? Home X, Home Z, Home tailstock quill, and shifting headstock in MDI mode?
My lathe started acting up sometimes then all the time. It was a bad connection...
Can you use MDI and move it around?
Try using MDI to send turret to X home, as in G28U0 then press the turret index button see if it indexes.
Ed.
Did it stop working suddenly or did you buy it not working?
How did you try to change tools?
Ed.
The G28 line is needed ahead of any G50 lines to make sure the machine is starting from a known point, If you jog from home then run a program with a G50 it will take the start point from where the...
G28 U0 W0 are nesicary to starting the program from the right position. Is this fragment part of an existing program?
Are you using G50 and a Z length?
Two things catch my eye.
Under [TRAJ] it lists default angular velocity as 5.0 which is 5 degrees per second, I see max angular is set to 50. mine is set to 25 and gives a little over 4 RPM.
...
I see Samco beat me to quite a bit of it.
Subnoize: Please post your .ini files and maybe we can get you set up better.
Ed.
I think you might be confusing things. I am using EMC2 ver 2.3.4 which is rather old but is applicable. In the Trajectory Planner section I have the "default_angular_velocity" set to 25 and in the...
Check in your configs. Set A axis to angular and set to degrees per second. I set mine up by increasing the speed until it failed and then backed off 20%. Notice it is degrees per second, not minute....
When you say servo do you mean spindle motor? The spindle motor was checked out and was OK.
ORAR appears to be the ORientation ARrived signal. Don't know if that is applicable on a lathe.
