Why are you using a parallel port ?

Is it because your computer doesn't have an RS232 port ? or because your CNC only has parallel ?

If it's because your PC doesn'tnhave RS232 9many don't...

Setting up a CNC so that it works with your DNC software can be difficult.

Why is hardware handshaking better ?

During drip feeding the CNC sends start/stop commands back to the PC to control the flow of data. It needs to stop the flow of data when its receive buffer...

You'd need to check it out to see if it does what you want but it won't cost anything to try because it's free.
