Thank you CNCZone for creating this 'announcements' area in the forum.
I'd like to introduce a brand new version of easyDnc. Version 5 is a multi-tasking CNC Server which can feed a number of CNC...
Fanucs just don't have any client/server capability built in so can't search a remote disk/server for files.
You mentioned easyDnc - There is a version of easyDnc which has a remote request...
yes, I'd agree with justtx - check that the cable is intact.
Why are you using a parallel port ?
Is it because your computer doesn't have an RS232 port ? or because your CNC only has parallel ?
If it's because your PC doesn'tnhave RS232 9many don't...
Setting up a CNC so that it works with your DNC software can be difficult.
Here's a website with lots of settings and cable diagrams etc for many different types of control.

Here's a free CNC text editor

Why is hardware handshaking better ?
During drip feeding the CNC sends start/stop commands back to the PC to control the flow of data. It needs to stop the flow of data when its receive buffer...
Most Mazak machines communicate using their own proprietary protocol so most simple DNC software won't work. Mazak obviously want you to spend a load of money buying their software and conversational...
All the machine parameters you've mentioned are correct. The only thing wrong was the Parity.
Your program would look like this on the computer before you begin the transfer. If the % symbols...
If you mean DNC (File transfer from MacOS to CNC memory or Drip Feeding) then you might like to try this http://www.dnc-x.com which is a free Dnc for for iMac and Linux.
I suspect the Parity at the PC needs to be EVEN
9600
7bits
2 stopbits
Even Parity
easyDnc now runs on Ubuntu linux.
We just did a port of the easyDnc software from Windows to Linux and MacOS

We're the software authors but (for linux) it's free software...
MacOS Leopard doesn't include anything new to allow you to run Windows apps at the same time as MacOS.
It does include a new thing called "BootCamp" which allows you to create a Windows partition...
There's a free one DNC-X

Sorry about the double post. My first one didn't appear so I did it again.
There's a DNC for Linux at http://www.dnc-x.com
You'd need to check it out to see if it does what you want but it won't cost anything to try because it's free.
