Hey guys,
I have a Bridgeport series 1 cnc running mach 3. With back lash set I lose position when a tool is comped in g41 or g42. If the tool isn't comped I can cut the same pocket all day...
Easy way would be to use a "cnc" vise that you can set on its side. I would bid on this if I had a slitting saw arbor.
Pm sent, thanks.
I want to put the centroid retrofit on it, but I don't yet have the money for it yet. An old guy at work used to run these on the original controls. He can't believe the gecko retrofit made both...
The original sigma steppers. X and y run at 100ipm just fine.
Ok, I was just wondering because I can not get my z axis to move faster than 50 ipm without it stalling and losing position.
When I set up mach 3 and did the calculations for the motors and ball screws for 5tpi. The z axis is a larger diameter, would this change the settings for z axis, have I been running the wrong...
Ok, ill tear it back down tonight. Do you just leave the varispeed body hanging there. I was worried about it falling out. I did figure out how to remove the top bearing cover too. Once I get...
Hi guys,
Got said machine going last fall and when running the spindle in high gear there is a horrible vibration and rattle. Ive read up and it seems to be an issue with the vari speed assembly...
Pm sent.
Hi guys, ive only got my phone for the time being and I can't get the search function to stay up. Im trying to determine with the threads are in the back of the table are. Im getting ready to set...
Yes sir, every little program I have tried today has a tool number and they are the same tool info from 2 days ago. It seems now that any program I run that has an arc anywhere in it, runs up to the...
No g42 in the program, just a clockwise arc that is cut, it cuts the first arc then Mach just sits on the x-.1235 move. As I said earlier, 2 days ago I was cutting a .140 wide slot with a .125...
Something is up because 2 days ago I cut a .140 wide slot with a .140 radius at the end of it,. That program won't run either after a radius.
The move before is
G0 x.6 y.3
G1 z-.186
.500...
Well, I have an issue that's got me lost.
G1 G41 x.3735 y .2
G1 y-.325
G2 x.1235 y.-.575 r.250
G1 x-.1235
Mach's graphics writes this and the rest of the program out. When I run it, the...
Finally had success, left the rpms at 2500 and backed the feed down to 3 ipm just to be safe. Slot is all done, thanks all, im still going to look into the noise and run out in the spindle as time...
Yeah, my brother in law works in the opposite end of the factory, he said 4 or 5 ipm. Ill be trying it later after I have a few more end mills. As I said I'm going to use a keyseat cutter for now....
The end mills were carbide 3 and 4 flute. The material is 303 stainless, I have a feeds and speed calculator from a programmer at work. It has 304 in it and he told me to cut anything in half that...
I had a .010 doc at 2500 rpm and 10 ipm. I am happy I haves mill, just trying to see what I can do with it. I am planning on upgrading to newer stepper motors to get microstepping but I need to...
Yes sir, I checked it last night, its just over. 001. Yeah, my spindle moves a bit when the brake is applied.
Would vibration caused by something in the varispeed contribute to breaking those little endmills? Read on a few places that a plastic part wears out and causes vibration. My spindle is by no means...
I tried several tool holders, roughly the small reading. How difficult is it to remove the spindle? I don't have a manual for a diagram on what it even looks like in there.
Hi guys,
Got a question for you. I was trying to make a .071 inch slot with a .062 end mill. Had a guy at work help me with speeds and feeds. First attempt at .02 DOC resulted in the end mill...
I couldn't tell you about under powering. The only time I lose position is when I power the machine down. I have my e stop setup to shut off the outputs. I could never get my disable port on my...
Another thing you need to think about is making new motor mounts. The Bridgeport ones are a little different on hole placement and shaft diameter. I'm sure someone on here has the dimensions or at...
Hi all,
I have a 2hp spindle that I plan on running with a vfd and a few questions. First off, would it be possible the set the original speed control to the motors normal Tom's and change...
You should be good to go on trying to wire it up in series if that is what you plan to do. Let us know how it goes.
From what I've read and understand, parallel gives higher rpms but requires the full amps of the motor whereas series is half of the rated amps. I'm going to assume your motors are still wired as...
Success! I finally got my break out board, gecko 213v's, and stepper motors to work. After determining that I have superior stepper motors on all 3 axis, I began hunting for wiring diagrams. At the...
The stepper or servo motors will run off of single phase, I dont know much about the interact bp's but on my boss 5 series 1 cnc, the original stepper motor power supply was 56 vdc pulled from one...
