My control for my 80/20 mill went through a few iterations. I finally ended up with this. It's all crammed inside of a 4u server chassi enclosure I got off ebay. I also included a picture of the...
I used the 220 OHM resistor method and it worked well! I didn't really want to run all my limits to gnd, it would mean rewiring several wires since they wouldn't be long enough. But I'll keep that in...
Since I've had a lot of success with treadmill motors on my mills, I've decided to modify and sell these on ebay.
Mill/Lathe Spindle Motor/ Modified Treadmill Motor | eBay
This one is 2.25-2.8...
Ok so I have most of my controller put together, but I need some advice on connecting some things. I have a hall effect sensor for spindle speed that has a sinking output, so I need a pull up...
Yeah, I have 7 different v/hz patterns, but I haven't been able to find what each does specifically. I can't get the motor to run past 11hz and changing the v/hz doesn't seem to change much. Do I...
Ahh, that's interesting. I have 4.4Ohm's at each winding phase, and infinite resistance to the motor case. Does a HF spindle draw lots of current at lower rpms and then lower as it speeds up...
Wondering if someone can help me out. Bought a 1.5kw spindle and found a Teco drive on wolfautomation.com. The spindle keeps tripping the drive. It's pulling almost 5A at, maybe, 100rpm or so, if I...
Ok so I tried running the program with m1 ignored in mach and now I can jog the z axis to zero the tool. Maybe the smoothstepper won't let mach jog when you have m1 active in mach, since I can jog on...
I can jog the z and rezero the tool on my other mill just fine. Maybe it's my gcode, I never ran this program on the old mill. I'll have to take a look at it when I get home. Normally what I do is...
Hey guys. I'm having a problem with Mach3 and jogging, It won't let me jog during a tool change. So I can't re-zero my z axis. I'm using a smoothstepper to control my servo drives, so I'm not sure if...
I tried changing the 3 pid settings and the only one that didn't save was the Main Gain setting. But the same thing happens for all the drives. Bad serial adapter? Is there any way to test it? The...
I'm having this same issue. When I first got the drives, till now, a year later. It won't save the PID parameters on all 4 drives. When I change the Main Gain setting to 68, it reverts right back to...
I have an RCNC that I got working with the USB smoothstepper.

WOOHOO got the spindle to work!! I needed to set Smoothstepper Base Hz to 10 for pwm frequency. I figured it was something simple. :/
Still bench testing, have to make couplers for the motors/ screws, and I still need one more ballscrew.
I'll email logicnc and see if the RCNC works with the smoothstepper.
Well they're back to working perfectly. They seem smoother with these drive settings. Thanks mac!! :D

Another issue:...
Right now I have the power supply and everything connected to earth ground. The drives are attached to a metal plate that is grounded. Should I isolate them from earth ground?
Hmm, I did have the drive settings diferent to what I recieved from the drive. It's like the drive somehow changed its own settings. I had no idea the main gain needed to be set so high. And I...
I have narrowed it down to the drive. I switched the servo to a different drive and it doesn't shake. And I've tried a different servo on this drive and it shakes. It seems like it's hunting for a...
Ok so I got everything wired up and I had it running pretty well on Tuesday, besides a spindle problem, but I'll address that later.
Now I seem to have an issue with the z axis servo. When I turn...
There is no way that this is a genuine MeanWell PSU. The fit and finish is definitely not MeanWell quality. And they don't abbreviate there name "MiWi." Total Chinese knockoff. But anyway, I wouldn't...
Finally got to mounting all the components in the controller cabinet. And started wiring everything. Have a ways to go yet, but figuring out how to run the wiring is pretty much done; that's half...
Yeah, they are vibrating and rattling together. The Plugs are not tight. It only happens with this 3d part I have running. It's many small line segments and I think that makes the motors jerk a small...
Got my drives temporarily set up on a coffee table. :P So far running great. The motors seem to vibrate a small amount. I don't know if that's the program that I have running or if it's oscillation....
Yeah, I would like a fault led for when I'm setting the internal drive and mach3/4 parameters. How likely is a drive to fault because of, let's say, too much accel?
They are the Dyn2H 48vdc drives.
Hey guys, I just received my DMM 4 axis servo kit, and I was wondering how I could connect a fault LED to each drive. I've seen people do it, but there is no explanation in the breakout board manual....
Hi, I just received my DMM servo kit and I was wondering how you connected LEDs for Enable and Fault. Do you have LEDs for each axis? I would like to have them as a quick visual when I get my mill...
if the corner needs to be square, you can put "mickey mouse ears" at each corner. You drill a hole somewhere outside the corner to allow for clearance, then mill the pocket.
