Taney has left Jinan Quick but he is still selling CNC routers, not sure what company he is operating under now though.
Good to know! Thanks.
I haven't needed to take one apart myself yet but this site may help?

PSP plastics has a good range of sheet acrylic offcuts and can cut to size. Dotmar engineering plastics in Christchurch has ofcuts of most of their plastics.

Often the trick is to find an engineering place that will sell you short offcuts and stuff, beats buying full lengths. Sometimes the metals suppliers themselves can point you to one of their...
The softer grades are harder to cut and often do need some cutting fluid. The same grade of aluminium can also vary a little from sheet to sheet, one sheet might cut well and the next not so much.
...
You could try wiping the surface with some kerosene first too, some alloys of aluminium just gum up cutters really badly.

I just remembered how to change the step settings easily
If you have it set to low step, then push the "STOP" button. Push the 'X-' button 3 times and you can change the step distance there. Push...
The angle of your vee cutter might not quite be 90 degrees, it needs to be measured accurately and the same angle used in the tool settings for best results.

I made up my own menu files to access the ability to change the step setting.
A workaround is to use the Dist (Distance) mode and set it to 0.05mm. Then you can move in smaller distances.

If you push the menu button there should be a list that comes up, can you find anything that is similar to "step units"? Depending on the menu file installed you might not be able to change it?
...
You should be able to change the distance of the steps in settings

A box and a long heavy tube arrived on Friday all the way from the USA, lets open them up and see whats inside.....
Some new helical pinions and a whole lot of helical rack from Automation4less!...
Turns out the dampers stick out of the sides of the pulley boxes a few mm. This isnt so much an issue on the two X-axis drives as the covers have plenty of room under them. On the Y-axis it is a...
Today I finished the stepper dampers that I have been aiming to do for some time. They seem to work quite well and work at very slow speeds where there was quite a lot of vibration there is now a...
You should be able to disable it for just CNC zone in the settings for Adblock plus.

Continuing on with my new belts and pulleys.....
Turns out that the lighter acrylic pulleys were allowing resonance to appear at low speeds. It wasnt bad enough to stall the machine or anything...
Here's a couple, I also have a dust shoe that clips directly onto the foot plate itself, but I don't seem to have any pictures of that. I use the plate with the smaller hole for smaller cutters, it...
I use a pressure foot most of the time and only occasionally use tape for hold down, no vacuum bed on my machine! I made my own.
The thing I have to watch for it the foot catching on the edges of...
I worked on a slightly bigger multicam for a month or two, CASmate was such a pain in the neck to use!
The machine that I used had the same type Z-axis, with the spindle weight holding it down....
When I set the limits on my machine I set the home position as zero for each axis and then slowly jogged each axis so it was almost as far as it would go to the opposite side of the machine (I think...
Well it turns out I can get the accuracy down to +/- 0.10mm using the machine to make its own pulleys, repeatability is in the region of 0.01mm so it would be good to get the accuracy down to...
If you change the probe direction again, then nothing else should change at all, I think the reason that the Z axis went the wrong way is because it wasnt setup properly from the factory.
If you...
Good to see yoou are getting things up and running, it also pays to air cut the gcode on the first few times you use the machine. Set the Z height above the material (so it wont touch it at the...
This screen here try changing the "DirLowActive:" under the "Z Axis" column to a "1" instead of a "0"
Shannon.
Like Roger said.. there should be a setup screen where you can change travel directions etc?
Good to hear you are making progress and earning some sweat equity :)
Shannon.
What Roger said... :)
I would set the machine limits before going further, then you will know if it is actually trying going to the correct Z height etc? You should be able to jog the machine from...
I had an interesting discussion with the sales guy at the place I brought the belts. He said that I couldnt cut the pulleys with my machine due to the inaccuracy and I replied that I was planning on...
I purchased some new HTD 8M belts yesterday to replace the sloppy L series ones on my machine. The small issue is that I now have to make some pulleys to suit...
I cut some test gears out of 3mm...
Good to hear, on further looking it also seems that you can enable to home switches from that same screen I posted.
I am not sure if you have got home switches or if you have got your machine to...
