When you use the word crank... Are we talking the same thing? The grub screw in center at top of bearing block, not meaning the four screws. Cheers

With your linear bearings..sbr1605's? Did you tighten them up?

Did you sort this out? Did you try cutting a similar shape and see if same movements go wrong?

Ive just bought a 2nd hand pc to load linuxcnc onto, but am happy for this to be a long term learn. The smoothieboard does seem to have a following... and is the way Im thinking of going later on....
Awsome machine! Just wondering what usb controller you used with Mach3?. Cheers

What size is that stepper on z axis? I was thinking it was a second spindle there for a second..

Autodesk also do "Artcam", its a bit simpler to use. Maybe give that a try for your first try cutting

If your building a C Beam for a controller you could probably get away with Arduino + CNC shield + 8825 drivers $30 on eBay. Flash with GRBL and use Easel or fusion 360 to create your code. Spend @...
CNC NUTZ, yotube says some interesting things about limit switches. On our "mat cutter" at work (cuts cardboard mats, belt driven cnc) we bump the gantry up hard against the "fixed metal" end stops...
I've gone Arduino and GRBL for first build. Design is C Beam style with moving cutting bed and fixed gantry.(3xNema23 all up)..that way I can make the gantry strong and hopfully cut out the aluminium...
Hay Joel0407... any news, did you get your motors going?
Yep..always waiting for bits. I'll be making first gantry from ply (till i can cut in alloy)... Unfortunately I will not know till I have a go about how everything will...thats half the fun I spose!...
Hi joel0407.
Have you your motors/electronics up and running yet? I gather you bought to 5 axis brrakout board from steppersonline? Any good?
Cheers

May I ask what controller software you thinking of using? Mach3, UCCNC or LINUXCNC
Cheers
