New Chip Clearing Fan version 1.0
Lynn,
I had an enclosure long ago and it was on the moderate side. It trapped 90% of the mess but the other 10% still went everywhere. I played around with a lot of designs over the past few...
Its been over 5 years since I had the Mill up and Running. Space is much tighter now and containing the mess is far more critical.
1) All new "tight" enclosure. I will post more detail pics later....
I cut a lot of softer materials. Wax, wood, brass, pewter, delrin and aluminum and plastics. Ferrous would be a more rarity for me
Ican - thank you
awerby - I totally agree, since posting this, my efforts have been redirected at a new more air/chip tight enclosure. Not the cheapest or most simple solution but in the end will...
Greetings all,
I have not been active on here in years. Had to get out of the hobby for some time. I may have lost the house and more importantly the workshop but she didn't get my equipment,...
Good sound advise. Exactly my mantra as well. My credit card actually pays me to have it. I use it only because I get rewards and have never paid a dime of interest. Between me and the wife we get...
Sorry all for the last two posts.
I ranted in such a way to demonstrate a point.
The origional post was a legitimate set of questions:(please read the quote above in case any of us forgot the...
CJ,
Thank you for agreeing with me. That was my point exactly. You have needs that dictate you needing larger equipment, and a larger truck. Whether they are immediate needs or anticipated. I too...
I didnt realise I was getting into a mud slinging contest. i should have read deeper first before posting.
However:
If you notice I never slammed the X4 just stated the obvious. Yes if your...
I agree. Bigger is better is a loaded answer. It all depends on a few things:
1)What you are looking to do with it(size of parts, material being cut, one off parts or production level cutting,...
The slot in your vise does sit a bit higher than mine. Makes for much longer screw shank and some flex.
Mine works fine for me. I work with very soft materials on small parts with small cutters....
Basically an alum plate. Drilled and tapped for BHCS. The holes are right art the edge of the vise so they hold it from moving at all side to side. The caps obviosly sinch it down.
If I were to...

hey long time no...
i have a solution for mounting a tool makers vise. It is a mounting plate that has the vise prmenantly mounted to it. It is fairly self aligning for quick removal an...
Cool.
I have a sherman in the works myself.......
Tikka is where I got the idea for mine. They are from Enco. I am sure he can give you more info. I believe the video tells at the end what it is and where it is from, if I recall correctly
I used to use the touch off to a surface(usually my vise) and recalibret Z
I recently bought an electronic height gage and love it. Red light glares on when the tool makes contact so it eliminates...
It breaks surface down into small triangles. I read somewhere that it is simpler for CAM and RP to read and really does not effect the resolution, which can be adjusted upon export.
Here are...
when you say importing and ectracting geometry....
what software are you talking about? Are you trying to make a 3D toolpath file? Why not use STL format which is designed for machining. You will...
All I can say is that it will fit a 3/8" shank in the collet. I have used a 3/8 end mill on aluminim and softer so I cannot comment on harder materials. Maybe someone else will jump in with more exp...
The Er 16 collet holds up to 3/8" shank
Is the plans for the master pattern to be stainless?
If so why?
Hard to carve, hard to ploish hard to solder to.
Or ar you planning on one offing these things on the mill?
I have a compact 8 I bought long ago new before the non_austrian machines. Lot more dealers then.
As of late the only US dealer I know of is Blue ridge Machinery It was a couple of years ago when...
SW can be very CPU intensive. Your graphics card, Ram and CPU all play into this. The file size can be decieving as well. I have seen files that were huge but rubustly made be very smooth operating....
Say that 5 times real fast
We always used a laquer of some sort in production to seal off sterling and gold platings. Patinas as well will seal the surface but that is a specific look and not applicable to stailnless ....."I...
I have been a jewelry Model maker for over 15 years. So I come from an old school background I would do it on a lathe and then cut the outer form more likely than not but you never know I might...
Looks like a ring blank to me. Am I correct?
Thank you
It was all greek to me when I first read it. It is a cool looking gun. What does the eye do? Tell the ammo loader to feed?
