Off topic question. Will OM-4 lenses fit on an E3 body?
Been enjoying your trials & tribulations.:) Picked up some good ideas to use on my gantry style mill, based on Joe's Hybrid design. Why...
Marcus,
I gather this means all these steppers we've been buying will have to have DB9 connectors soldered to them. So which wires go to which pins?
Bob Hayes
So for softer materials like aluminum, I should use a course thread, and for steel, a fine thread? How about mounting something to the side of a casting where the screw is in shear? I would expect...
So if a fine thread is stronger, why use a course thread?
Bob Hayes
Thanks for the information. Now I have a better idea which threads to use.
Bob Hayes
OK, why?
Bob Hayes
I have a question that has been bothering me for some time. Which is stronger; NC or NF threads? Let's say I want to connect two pieces of metal together using a #10 screw and nut. Which would be...
By reading the past few pages and checking Digikey's catalog, I figure there are 112 parts, and since the rules state a tie wins, that's my entry.
Bob Hayes
Peter,
After I increased the display to 200%, I could see the connection dots.
Mariss,
Thanks for the explaination. When I was working for a living, all the schematics I looked at were...
Mariss,
Looking at your schematic, I have a couple of questions. How does the +15v to+50v get to the +12v regulator circuit, and pins 5-8 on the G250 sockets? On the G250 pcb, is there a ground...
Marcus,
I'm a little confused. If you haven't programmed your pick and place machine yet, how did you build that sample board? Surely not hand solder.
Westec starts March 31, so I guess you...
Marcus,
Are those header pins spaced .1" or something else? Any suggestions on how we are going to hook these up? Are these drives going to be ready by Westec time so I can pick some up when I'm...
Gerry,
So my 24v steppers(Eastern Air Devices, p/n LA23ACK-3) probably aren't strong enough for my modified Joe's Hybrid router. There's no indication of torque on the nameplate. Y axis slides are...
cueshark,
I'm a little confused. You talk about running steppers at 10-20 times the rated voltage. Does this mean I could run a 24v, .3A, 6 wire stepper at 240v to 480v without fear of it...
I have a couple of steppers I picked up surplus a few years ago and I need some help putting them to use on a Joe's 4x4 Hybird look alike. The manufacturer is Shinano Kenshi Co., Ltd., Japan. The...
Thanks for the reply JR. I was only planning on a max. of 1500 rpm anyway. Where do I buy mini-mill spindles by themselves without paying for the whole mill?
Bob Hayes
Having read all 25 pages of this thread, I have some questions.
Why are all the spindles described enclosed; bearings are inside a tube, and the actual spindle is inside them? Is there some...
You might try a paint strainer in line with the coolant return. The magnets, of course, only work with magnetic material, and you need to filter everything out before it gets into the sump.
Bob...
That's really nice. How well does the coolant remove the chips? Any chance of a video showing the action?
Bob Hayes
Hoss,
I've been to your website and tried to send you an email, but it keeps getting bounced, so this may be a little OT. Lots of good information on your site, but I have some questions...
Great video. As I understand it, I don't need hard limit switches. With just 3 home switches and 6 soft switches, the mill will never crash into the physical stops. Is this correct?
Bob Hayes
Scott,
Where do I find prices for Frame World stuff?
Bob Hayes
Frank,
I bought mine at a surplus store in Lawndale, CA called Industrial Liquidators. They sell on ebay under the name "isellsurplus", but I go into the store when I'm in So. Cal. I used to...
As far a I am concerned, the best scope you can buy is Tektronix. They are available surplus for reasonable cost. I picked up a 465 for $85, only because it had a military part number and had been...
I wasn't thinking of a cherry bomb, but rocket fuel.
When I was in Jr. High, everything needed to make black powder was available in the drug store. But they got wise and saltpeter started...
How about using zinc dust? Maybe add a little sulfur.
Bob
Joe,
I've just spent the last 2 days looking for information on your kit and have ended up here. If this is the right spot, can you send me a quote?
