I never looked at adding gussets to the original column. I think there would be challenges in attaching them since the mating surface has a chamfer and some draft, but it is possible. If you wanted...
Figure I would update this thread with a few pictures
I've picked up syk c3 fk12 on ebay for a reasonable price from a seller in Israel. Try looking at automation4less ballscrews. They start at the $100 range. I pick on up from the Z axis on my G0704....
Big question, what is the price range you arr willing to pay? If you start looking, I'm sure that the Taiwanese ballscrews start at several hundred dollars a piece.
Look what pop'ed up on engineering.com
As previously commented, the column is the weakest part of the mill or I think it is. Since I'm waiting on parts and time to machine parts, I'll share with everyone my wonder how much the design of...
These are the first parts that have been made. My friend Lucas has been kind enough to lend me his equipment and time to make parts. I have the X and Y ball nut mounts complete and the machining done...
I would take a look a the Grizz G0704 build thread on their hydraulic draw bar set up. They had to modify their draw bar mount because it was not simply strong enough to handle the force of the...
Has anyone out there done a DYN4 1.8KW spindle motor swap/upgrade on a bench top milling machine? I'm toying with the idea of going this route vs getting a VFD/upgrading the current AC motor. I've...
Here is the first modification to the saddle using my friends PM 949 pictures above. We created clearance for the ball screw, ball nut and the new attachment method for the ball nut mount.
The reason why I would like to used fixed is ends is that the ball screw is able to carry more load and have a higher max speed, according the NSK and THK guides I have looked...
Howdy folks,
I've been working the last few months on converting my G0704 to cnc. I've got most of the design complete, ordered a majority of the parts, and now starting to machine everything. My...
Google "Hard Milling". I believe NY CNC did a video on this milling stuff ~60 HRC using these specialty end mills on their Tormach machines
Don't know what your budget is, but the link below is a battery powered accelerometer with a USB interface. I've used these in the past to capture impact data at ~150Gs so they seemed to pretty...
On benefit that Soildworks offers that Fusion may not offer is the ability to do FEA, CFD, motion and tolerance analysis. You didn't mention what your ideal profession would be after finishing up...
