That works both ways. What is your monthly overhead. Mine is over $30k
I need work. But, I have never made any part where the machining cost less than the material. And, I never will.
I get where...
You are obviously not a machinist Eric. You are quoting the absolute minimum size material that part can be made from.
And, that method is a royal pain in the ass. There is a much better, faster,...
The material on the larger part is well over $2ea
If you need a good reliable mill guy, I am looking for work. But, you have to put some realistic numbers out there.

Sorry, I do not. There was a link posted on practical machinist, but, it doesn't take you straight to the article. You have to do some digging to find it.
No, its not. That is Josh. Darrin doesn't make many appearances. But, he does show up in a recent article in A2Z Metalworker where SPENG was recently featured.
Other than an uncanny similarity in...

A little more Google action tells me that D&D machine at the address you provided is owned by David Potillo.
If you google the info you have provided, it comes back for a D&D Machine. Sorry to hear you got taken for a ride!
By anyone but yourself.
I was gonna go there, but decided to just throw a number out instead.
Honestly, for the amount of time I "see" in that part on the machine you described? I can't see how...
I would venture to say you are a little low, but it sounds like your overhead is also low.
I would charge $25ea (just labor) for 100pcs. With a 1 week lead time.
please send .iges, or .x_t files to [email protected]
how is the job going Mosin?
Very True! Just a few short months ago I was buying my first machine to open my own shop finally. I had a Fadal "all but bought". Then at the last second had a reality check. I realized that I needed...
first off, let me get this out of the way: I am not trying to be rude. really I am not. But, judging from your first post, if it is not a troll, you are destined to fail.
I can tell you what the...
If only it were that easy. So does "Machine purchase could be based on the type of work piece" mean that you don't own the machine/s yet?
again, he stated that in the "read me". Which could suggest that maybe you (OP) should rename the readme.
.dxf for any water-jet shop should be just fine. and, you should really state material on the print. I personally loath zipped files.
you cant beat the standard Mitutoyo digi-matic calipers. they are affordable, and quite durable. most machinist in your position don't go up much past 3" in micrometers. any reputable brand will work...
I cant help you, but that is going to be one damn nice table! I am guessing 1/2-13 tapped holes on a 6" grid.
I aint skeered! LOL just don't have the capacity to turn 40". too bad, because i'm local.
I cant make it for you. laser would be the way to go.
BUT! I know exactly what it is! LOL
you should clear your PM box.
im not 100% in tune to your situation (im not there), but i think you are on the right track. like i said on page one: that place will let you run that cell forever if you let them.
no, never tried that one. Honestly, I have been quoting work over the internet for about two years. I have only ever landed one job. It was a pain, and the buyer was overly demanding (calling every...
it is my opinion that any place willing to pay for schooling is worth looking into! my interview advice is:
1. learn as much about this company on your own as you can before your interview.
2....
Nope. I do not. I'm just starting out myself. I can tell you my opinion of MFG.com though. Giant scam! unless you want to bid work so low you put yourself out of business. My "real" job is based in...
that is the billion dollar question.
yea, I didnt worry about the keys. just indicate the face of the platter true, and clamp it down
I have set our rotab on 2x4x6 blocks many times to gain 2". worked like a charm. much easier than building a riser, unless you need more than 2". although, I have seen 4x4x6 blocks.
