Yes indeed, this is very interesting to read! From my own experience, I can just tell you that Tormach is not any better. They left me with their Chinese junk without any reasonable solution.
The runout reading could vary, depends on the tool length, also e.g. 90deg collet or TTS holder twist may change this reading.
Tormach machines are fully made in China, including 100% Chinese QC, what I experienced so badly.
You mean it's a quite tricky DIY kit, not a finished machine? Well, the assemblies still suffer from the lack of precision. So your Tormach is as good as good is your luck with receiving correctly...
...ignoring precision, backlash, squareness, z-axis repeatability, finish and all these "unimportant" factors ...pleaseeee
Well spotted Cliff, thanks for your very informative video!
The second oiler may be a good option too. You can get another advantage of divided lubrication system and use a higher viscosity oil for...
Hi mcleodjm. What an irony of fate. I had similar findings when I was inspecting my PCNC 1100 first time. The only difference was that my machine was BRAND NEW (2016 - it was about 2 years ago)...
I'll add one important thing to all these nice ideas and wishlists - a serious and reliable QUALITY CONTROL. So far it's a great design with well balanced price/performance ratio but Chinese...
No, it wasn't, but it cannot be fixed remotely by Tormach anyway. I got some experienced guy for diagnostic and believe me he was just shocked at the poor quality of this "new" machine. There is much...
Hi drazziweht, I bought 1100 last year. I was importing this machine to UK and then to Ireland. I've some terrible experience with the machine quality, spec and also with their customer service....
I'll update on this soon. I also got few PM with the request for an update, so I'll back with the new info. I'm still waiting for a professional diagnostic made by experienced guys. It looks like...
As I wrote in the last PM to you Steve, I really wish to have your Tormach mill, fully finished, inspected and made to spec.. The Chinese manufacturer was not so kind sending my PCNC 1100.
I'll update with progress on this. Tormach support manager is out of office until Wednesday, so I've to wait.
Steve, I apologise for being a bit rude with my last reply to you. I was, and I'm still 100% sure that there was nothing wrong with the clamping method. I was checking it for any loose, play, etc. ...
Steve please do not try "help" me in my thread anymore as you simply spamming with theories like this. Open your case titled "myth and truth about clamping method" and discuss there your theories,...
No point for that Steve as numbers were already verified with other precise equipment.
My equipment was already verified, I've never trust manufacturer specs., certifications, etc. That's why I've started checking my PCNC and I've found so many o.o.s. or faults.
Update:
Measurement...
Rotation you saying, ...OMG :)
Steve, I fully agree that the holding method is not the best choice. However, the granite square has a short flat section on the opposite side to the measured long one. It's enough to clamp it well...
Steve please read my first post again, think what is under the scope, verify the method and see the video once again. It's not a part, it's the engineering square (grade A). The engineering square...
I'm calling them since 09 of August 2016 when I've received this machine. The only visible results of their support so far is my developed insomnia. The machine is still not usable. It's not made to...
I was also considering this scenario but how bad the twist has to be to affect x-y squareness? With this relatively light machine it's hard to make. Also tramming Z-Y is actually perfect (measured on...
Thanks guys for your thoughts. My first post is updated with videos test where I've used the dial test indicator. Links are also here:
VIDEO of the measurement with DTI: HI-Res
VIDEO of the...
The number of issues with my new PCNC 1100 is already overwhelming, for me anyway. The last one I've currently discovered is the perpendicularity of X-Y motion. I can really make a horror stories...
This is actually wrong thread, you discussing popspipes case from this thread:
1100-series 3 oil passages drawing
My issue is already diagnosed, see this video (2 oil outs not connected with...
There is another image - view of the installation under the table. ... with some extra piece of loose coil protector, why to clean if usually nobody looking there :(

Yep, quite odd. More precisely the bottom side hole (oil in, where the oil connector is attached) was blind and not connected with top hole (oil out for slideway) and top side hole (oil out for...
Ray, when the oil installation is connected to the BLIND HOLE in the casting we cannot talk about any amount of oil properly delivered by pumping, gravity-fed, etc. So it wasn't made like that by the...
Manual oiling is fine as long you are using the original lubricate installation. Wiping with oil externally sounds a bit weird to me, even for a 24 hours run. Anyway, I finished the drilling...
