yes the flat bar will be used to mount the rails and rack.
but i asked if using 5mm thick tube, no need to use an additional flat bar,all I have to do is machining the SHS...

Hi Ben - I think your using 20mm rails? So they would have a M5 screw. M5 nuts are 4.7mm thick so I'd use 5mm (or 6mm) strip so the thread was deep enough.
