OK so i have a microval (not sure what version as it is at the shop, let me know what numbers might be needed) that is running on an older compaq pc. recently the PC is starting to flake out a bit. ...
ok, now i need a bit more help on this. can anyone direct me in the way of a primer on c02 lasers and where might be a reputable place to purchase one (in the us)? if i missed a faq or a writeup on...
any suggestions on a small co2 laser i should be looking at?
thanks for the info.
I'm working with a friend on a mat cutter for photo frames. we were looking at making an entire cnc cutting solution with an indexed cutter for direction. then along came the idea of using a laser,...
OK here is the scoop. I got an lp4000 http://www.ioline.com/support/lp4000_s.html for free. free is always good. Anyway i really do not have any need for a pen plotter and i don't really need a...
OK i'm mainly a 2d guy so this is a bit new to me and i'm hoping there is a very simple answer, but doubt it. Anyway here is what i would like to do. let's say I have a 3 foot piece of round 4...
that's kinda what i thought but i figured i would look for a specs sheet on these, but have yet to be able to actually find anything real about them at all.
thanks for the help, if anyone knows...
it is a unitec DTM-3780, or with an encoder DTME-3780
it is the same as this one...
i've worked with phidgets before too, i have a couple of their rc servo controllers (which i believe some day could actually run a mill but are being used for other things currently) anyway i agree...
i was looking around for thermocouple devices and came across my favorite interface site on the net, phidgets.com (not a plug i just love that place) anyway they have high speed encoder interfaces...
check out the hillbilly bob upgrade. $80 and worlds of help along with mach3 gives you a very nice setup compared to the original controller.
I ran across this on hackaday
http://www.speedy-bl.com/spdy1684-e.htm
and it got me thinking that someone might be able to combine that with this...
i just got one for free. but that really doesn't apply. it really depends on how good the iron is and what shape the steppers etc... are in. pics really dont tell as much as being on one sorry.
no problem, i know that the pot is bad, i put it on my fluke and got some really bad readings off of it. anyway didn't mean to jump on you if it isn't your site, i just hate spam. if replacing the...
paulC: thanks for the info, it is a stock x2 so i will put a new 4.7K pot in it myself.
thanks all
is that spam because i didn't see anything there on what pot to use other than send him your stuff and a bunch of $$$ and he will replace a $2 pot for you. I can do it myself i am just looking for a...
so we are playing with an x2 and about 1/10 the time it runs fine, but then it kinda freaks out runs at full speed and blows a fuse. We are guessing that the speed potentiometer is bad and needs to...
i'm getting ready to do this exact thing. just waiting for payment and shipping info on the board. in the mean time, should i keep an eye out for anything that might cause problems in the mach3...
[QUOTE=Torchhead;223723]You never said how the Common pin on the 320 was set. The parallel port on most computers will not source enough current to turn on the opto's in a Gecko. Some will "Sink"...
HillBilly, one quick question, you say that the steppers rapid at 60 IPM, wouldn't that only count as one axis. if you wanted x+y+z all to move at once (for whatever reason) would it still be below...
cool, thanks
again i spoke with mariss for quite a while on this and his main concern was not the encoders but the servo motors inductance not being compatible with the gecko servo drive.
as for what is...
I am able to get a series 1 for free, good iron and steppers, the controller would be nice to be replaced. then i ran across this thread and got really happy. anyway the question i have is this,...
from talking with mariss for about an hour to an hour and a half today (all good info) he came to the conclusion that it would cost me more to get these servo's going compared to just purchasing new...
the Inductance was incorrect to work with the gecko drives plus the differential encoders made it worse off.
and after a very informative phone call, the drives and encoders pretty much are more trouble to get working with gecko drives than they would be worth.
Thanks gecko for awsome support, you guys...
they are getting hammerd with tech support calls today and i felt like being a nice person and said i'd call back on tuesday. guess i'll wait till then.
i have absolutely no idea what you meant by the following, sorry
and you've said that you've an external power supply with the power supply -ve going to the encoder -ve on the motor and a wire...
I'm using slo-syn psu's, i have 3 of them. I do not believe all 3 are bad.
big arse cap's and plenty of amps.
nope, havn't contacted them yet. thurs was turkey day, and i figured friday they like most companies would be out. if they were not, my loss. so i was waiting until monday to do it. I am going to...
