SOLVED!
The dip switch on the servo for DIR rising/falling changed from off to on resulting in the servo going the wrong direction. Looks my dust collection hose rubbed/bumped the dip switch.
This is precisely what makes no sense. None of the wiring nor the control card have even been touched. Nothing physically changed and seemingly overnight the setting in TNG had to be changed. This is...
Not sure if this helps, but I have observed this exact same behavior on a second Mac with OSX 10.13.6 High Sierra. Not sure what else to try to resolve this.
Correct, disabling Reverse does resolve the issue. The concern is what happened that for 9-months the setting needed to be "Reverse" enabled and then one day without any hardware or software changes...
Videos demonstrating the issue:
Reverse Enabled on the X-axis as it has been for 9-months and working correctly until recently:...
Issue: Motor Axis Output 1 has seemingly randomly changed from needing to be "reversed" to not be reversed. Nothing has been changed in the hardware, wiring, or software.
The CNC has been running...

For the MK3....
1) On the Mk3 AXIS connector, how do I wire up the ERR pin(s)? Do I apply a voltage to them?
2) When the ERR pin(s) are activated, how does the TNG software react? Does the...

Where is the profile folder(s) suppose to be located on a Mac install of TNG? I cannot find reference to it in the documentation.
On Youtube I noticed two features demonstrated and cannot tell if these are readily available in TNG or whether they are something that I need custom G-Code and O code to perform. How do I do the...
Thank you for the insight on how to achieve this, and additional thanks for the directions too. :-D
I have observed that when a G-Code program is running on my CNC router and I use the Stop button on the TNG toolbar, the spindle does not turn off.
The g-code program does stop as well as motion....
What are people using and what is recommended for servos for an AvidCNC 4848? I will likely be upgrading this to a 4896 within the next 5 years, so I want appropriately sized servos.

I am curious if there are many out there that have purchased an Avid CNC and supplied their own control system and spindle? If you have, do you feel like you received the full value of purchasing an...
Are there any other good brands like Avid for a 4'x4' CNC that offer a lower price point? What I see is either move down it to a more hobbyist type machine of much less size and capability or move up...
Follow-up
- Did multiple surfacing passes sweeping across the the X axis (instead of Y).
- Started with a depth of .032". Still have lines, though they seem more consistent across the table than...
It does use V rollers on angle iron. I did a feel test of the top angle iron and was not able to make a connection between unevenness of the angle iron with marks on the spoil board. That said, yes...
2 full passes using the same pattern (front to back). Taking 1/32" off the first pass. And not changing the Z depth for the second pass (aka it stayed at z-0.0032 without re-zeroing Z).
I am confused as to why I am getting inconsistent lines when surfacing my spoil board with a 2" cutter (1" step over) after tramming to .004" difference over 6" inches. The existence of the lines is...
Long term solution is now in place. CNC is running better than every on StepperOnline DM542T digital stepper drivers and a 48 volt/480 watt (yeah could be a bit larger on the amps) power supply. Nema...
Yes there were eccentric bearings on the one side. Thank you.
Adjustment of these help resolved play as well as binding that was taking place when the Z axis moved up.
What is the intended way to adjust the bearing side-to-side for the Z axis? I have a a lot of play https://sendvid.com/6cq50f94
I tried loosing the bolts holding the bearings on to see if there...
Incredibly helpful everyone, thank you.
Resolution to Gantry binding:
- The current being sent to the Y axis steppers was different. The CNCHobby board was sending about a half an amp different...

Agreed on the HobbyCNC Pro V1 being Unipolar only. After spending 2 hours researching online, I just read your response. I was confused by the documentation online because HobbyCNC's wiring diagram...
CORRECTION: One anti-backlash nut per carriage. There are four v-groove bearings, two on top and two on bottom.

HobbyCNC documentation seems to imply the Serial wiring.
