Tell Dennis and Arleen, Hi from Dave that knows Atlee
Better yet, post a copy of the post YOUR using along with a sample of the code you get AND a sample of the code you want.
It will be easier to fix your post to suit your machine.
Try turning off Edge Curves for now. You can easily create them after the solid is imported.
You also didn't mention which file type you're trying to read. Solidworks directly?
If so, have them...
Freeform surfaces are fairly difficult to model in Mcam and have them appear 'correct'
Your model has the 'body' extending too far into the 'neck'.
I suggest breaking the surface into a few more...
The rotary axis limits are set by the control or machine definition, not the post, l can't remember which at this time.
To change them, go through the machine definition to change the control...
The 'new' verify is clunkier to use but it is MUCH more accurate and supports multi-axis MUCH better than the 'old' verify.
It's one of the things that you need to get used to.
In the settings, look for Import STL as mesh.
That will make it a solid.
You might have to play with the 'stitching' settings to make it into a 'water tight' solid
You can try right clicking the file window top bar, then select 'move'.
You should get a cross arrow type icon in the middle, click and hold the left mouse button to drag the window where you can...
Ask your MasterCam dealer to supply you with a post.
Oh, wait, you DON'T have a MasterCam dealer.
What was I thinking
Or they're saving a newer version of the X_T file that Mcam will read.
have them turn down the X_T version in file options.
If they're saving IGES, make sure they save in Mastercam 'flavor'
That's...
Yes, there is a setting to redraw the screen after each toolpath.
Sorry, i don't remember where it is in the settings
Another way to force axis output is to to change say, pxout to pfxout.
There is also a pfyout and pfzout.
Most posts support these 3 forces. Not all do.
Using the asterisk is guaranteed to work.
AFAIK, there is nothing wrong with the first code.
I would check your control settings to see if there's something that allows canned cycles without a positioning move.
All of our machines would...
Unless Mcam has made changes to the exit routines in the last 20 years or so, then no, AFAIK, there's no way to get rid of that particular message.
I must admit I am NOT a lathe programmer.
Yes, my post knowledge is from experience/trial/error over the last 20 years or so.
Meaning, I scrapped a few parts, crunched a few more cutters, but never...

Ok, I have everything fixed except for the redundant G18
These posts are a bit more complicated than what I'm used to.
I fully commented the changes inside the post file and left...
It works properly from TOP view.
You are correct.
X is length.
Y is width.
Z is height.
People with SolidWorks experience have a hard time with Mcam because the default screen is 90 degrees...
For the benefit of others,
These forums don't support a file extension of .pst
So, make a copy of your post file.
Rename the copy with a .txt extension.
Using the advanced message editor,...
I would be happy to as soon as the OP attaches a copy of their post so I can fix it.
If you need a similar fix, post a snippet of the code you get, an example of how you would like it to look, and...
Attach a copy of your .pst file, one of us will be happy to modify it to suit your requirements.
who, what me??? NEVER!
Without knowing your control or machine, I would suggest that there is probably a zero offset adjustment parameter somewhere in the control.
Normally the value is associated with the number of steps...
If you change the extension or add a supported extension to the file name you will be able to post the file here.
Change the extension to .TXT or add it to the end of the file name.
That will work.
Post a copy of your .PST file here.
One of us will be able to fix that for you.
*SIGH*
I give up.
Ummm, you guys ever hear about compatability mode???
Mcam X5 runs just fine in Win7 Home Premium 64-bit using WinXP Service Pack 3 mode.
There is not and there has never been a "freeware" or "shareware" version of MasterCam.
There is a student or educational license available that, I think, will not allow you to save or post code for...
I appreciate the thanks.
You do not owe me anything.
I do this because I have spent a lot of years and money learning this stuff.
You can pay me by helping others when you can.
Good luck.
Sorry about that,
The extra junk at the end of the line is because I forgot to turn fastmode back on.
Here is a new one for you.
I think I have the IJ arc problem fixed.
The number after the W...
