  1. Re: Z axis creeping down / loosing steps on a Taig Micromill 2000 with Mach 3

Oh, I have it on sherline 1/2 pulse. Do you use a pulse of 10? Keep dirpulse = 0 since it's not used by Taig, right?

  2. Re: Z axis creeping down / loosing steps on a Taig Micromill 2000 with Mach 3

Actually, just got it all back together and the problem went away... Not sure what I did that helped though (chair). I've often wondered about the pulse width - the manual recommended a pulse of 2...
  3. Re: Z axis creeping down / loosing steps on a Taig Micromill 2000 with Mach 3

Thanks again everyone for your advice! I took apart the axis, adjusted the gib (slightly loose), checked set screws, and cleaned everything, but haven't really found anything wrong. How do I know...
  4. Z axis creeping down / loosing steps on a Taig Micromill 2000 with Mach 3

Hi everyone, I just started having a new problem: as my progam is run, I notticed that the cutter cuts deeper and deeper. Attaching a dial indicator and then jogging the z-axis up and then down...

    Machinable wax full of bubbles!

I’m trying to make a 4"X4"X6" block of machinable wax but seem to be coming up with something a lot more viscous than what others must be making because it is always full of air bubbles. Can anyone...

    What material should I use?

    Noob question about plunge speed

I've heard the rule of thumb that I should plunge at my normal feed rate divided by the number of flutes on the end mill. So for a 2 flute cutter, I should plunge at 1/2 the normal feed, for a 4...
