Found the issue - one of the gears was slipping. Looks like this problem is solved.
New build project - first time cnc project.
Rack and pinion drives on all axis.
Linear guiderails
Nema 23 4.2A motors. DM556 drivers. Microstepping set to 1/8 (1600 pulses/rev)
Kernel speed ...
Thanks for the explanation. In my case using the m3s command, the spindle spins clockwise.
Thanks. Set to manual mode- everything worked as expected could change speed from 120hz to 300 hz. I reset everything back to remote operation and it looks like I now have full control in Mach3.
3...
ok- I unchecked active low in the outputs window for output 2 and the spindle stopped spinning up when I hit reset. Still cannot adjust speed though, and turning the potentiometer while the spindle...
Actually - every time that I hit the reset button, the spindle spins up.
When I make changes in the ports and pins page, once I hit ok, the relay 2light turns on for 1 second. Then when I hit the red reset button, the relay light comes back on and the spindle spins up.
Any speed that I enter into the MDI window and then press spindle start, the vfd spins up and shows 208 hz. Same when I set the speed to 200 rpm, same w/18000rpm.
Cannot change speed w/keypad arrows or pot.
The picture shows how it is connected to the vfd. Green wire goes to ACM, Blue wire goes to VI, black to dcm, red to FOR.
The relay on the bob has three connection pins. Have I connected to the correct pins?
replaced wires with tightly twisted pair. Same behavior.
...and the spindle automatically starts spinning once the computer is turned on and sends power to the bob.
Kernel setting - 25000hz
pdo44=2
PD072=300
PD073=120
Will replace wires- currently neither shielded or twisted.
I tried with the jumper in the original position, same issues.
When connected...
Also I am getting "Too fast for pulley. Using max." error
Thanks for the settings.
I moved the VFD jumper from the VR position left to the VI position
I set PD001 to 1
I set PD002 to 1
all else was set as per your settings list
I am unfortunately...
Ok, I set the max spindle speed to 18000 in the Spindle/Pulleys window.
Now I get:
m3s9000= 5.3V
m3s18000= 9.43V
I tried tuning the volts w/ the potentiometer to get closer to 5 or 10V, but there...
Inverter specs - HY04D023B
single&3 phase 220v 50hz
4.0kw
10A output current
suitable motor - 4.0 kw
the inverter came together with the spindle.
I am located in Europe w/household current 220V.
Thanks!
I have 5v at m3s12000.
My spindle info:
High speed electro spindles - eys8043-18/4.0, air cooled
220V, 300Hz, 10A, 4.0Kw, 18000 r/min, cos 0.75
Please have a look - is this connection correct? Thanks!
Hello!
Thanks for all of the help so far- this forum is really supportive!
Again, I need help on connecting my bob to the vfd. I cannot find the instructions how to connect this.
Here is my BoB...
Thanks for the advice. 1st quadrant it will be then!
Howdy! I am a first time cnc router builder, and need some input from seasoned cnc'ers. I haver searched online, but I find conflicting answers.
So - Which do I set up as the X axis, and which one...
Craig - thanks for showing all of the calculations, that is very helpful.
Regarding the 80vdc power supply- the motors have a rated voltage of 24v (and I already have a 24V power supply)- wouldn't...
Thanks, Gerry.
So in my case gear reduction options look like this:
1:1= 69 mm/revolution
1:3= 23 mm/revolution
1:5= 13.8 mm/revolution
1:10= 6.9 mm/revolution
1:5 reduction should be ok,...
Here is another specifications table that I found. My motors specs are circled in the red box.
I hope that his helps.
For the drivers- I have a HY- TB3DV board. Here are the specifications:
Electrical properties (ambient temperature Tj = 25 ?):
Input power 12 - 48V DC power supply
Output current 4.5A (peak 5A)...
Here are the specifications on the motors:
1. The stepping motor adopts advanced technology bearing, has low self inductance and good response.
2. The internal rotor is coated with imported...
Thaks for the input. Could I get away with using 5:1 reduction? I sourced some used 5:1 planetary gears locally at a good price.
Pete- thanks for the advice. So I don't need the rear reduction for added torque- the 4.2A motors will handle the loads?
I plan on using the gear on the motor to directly engage the rack - without...
