I found that replacing my Y axis drive belt solved my backlash problems on my BMC20. They do wear out over time.

Check and or clean your main cable connectors to that axis

If you remove a set it should be on bearings. That's how I got the bearing numbers for my BMC20. The xyz might use all the same bearings
