That would be awesome. Thank you

This is the inside of my machine. If I must I can engineer a solution, but pictures and knowing how the oem version worked would go a long...
Does anyone have some pictures of the parts catcher basket and/or a video of it in operation?
I have my machine into an operational state now, bit at some point I assume the hydraulic cylinder...
I do not have experience with the MB line, mine is a VM16. But I can touch on a few of the questions. I'm a tinkerer and inventor, so same prototyping environment.
* For those of you that have...
I checked the ac 100v that feeds the control and it was dead on 100v. Put an oscilloscope on it earlier today just to rule out a voltage drop that was faster than my digital volt meter could catch. ...
Ah, that makes significantly more sense. The only LEDs I get solid is the one for the power button. When the power button is pressed I get a number of LEDs on briefly (less than 0.5 second) on both...
Please excuse my ignorance, but I do not know what that acronym stands for.

I got my QT8N home last night and brought it into the shop today. Put power on it, the fans spun up, the green power button lights up. But unfortunately that's all the further it wants to go. It...
Well, I have been looking for a cnc lathe within my budget for a while and just got one at auction this morning. Its rough, but it does run and any deficiency I find should be within my ability to...
He is well worth the call, every time.

I do not know much at all about any controls except for the cent 5. That said, it sounds more like an encoder/drive related.
I'm going to suggest you contact sportybob, his contact info is in a...
Sounds like the first move of your program is calling for it to exceed its allowable limits. That's what software overtavel is, to prevent the axis from needing to rely on the limit switches.

In my playing I went as small as m3x1.0 and as big as 1/2-13 and 1/2npt. The npt was a bit of a pain because fusion lacks native taper threading.
my 96 vm16 blows air out of the spindle any time the drawbar in in "release" mode as well. I read somewhere that is to minimize chips entering the taper.
I assume rigid tapping could be added to...
I use fusion360 because im a hobby shop and its free. It does work very well though
I looked back at my post of moving mine. I got it through an 83 inch doorway with room to spare and had measured the height at about 77ish with the head all the way down and the spindle motorcover...
My 1996 vm16a made it in my 8ft garage door with a few inches to spare. I would have to recheck how tall the door is when I get back to my state. Its around 80 if I recall.
I routinely stand on my table and the enclosure I climb through the panels and the main door.
After growing up in a fiberglass boat repair shop I wasn't too afraid of standing on the enclosure. ...
Yes, thank you for following up. That is an interesting issue that would have taken some head scratching to find
here is a working gcode for my cent5 vm16 machine generated from fusion to test thread milling a 1/2-13 thread. It bores the hole first rather than drills it because my drill chuck was already setup...
I have been playing with thread milling on my vm16 through fusion. I'm rather glad it was suggested. I started with 1/2-13, then tried 1/2npt. Then to prove I could do it I acquired a small cutter...
I will do the prybar test. Im keeping my eye open for a drawbar tester, one will show up through my channels for a price I can afford eventually. On that note, how difficult are the washers to...
Thats what I thought, but I did not want to see a 17 lb tool fly out at even a low RPM much less have it come out when I figure out how fast I can spin it without chewing up inserts.
Thanks
Sounds like one of the servo drive cards or the spindle vfd is getting hot and throwing an estop flag. Someone else may have a better way, but I would probably try unplugging the drive cards to see...
Anyone know for sure what the max tool weight is for the spindle on a 96 VM16A machine? The only info I can seem to find is the max weight for the tool changer on a model newer is 15lbs. I ask...
So after ordering some threadmills to play with, I like that method. I have milled 1/2-13, 1/2-14NPT, then found an m3 version in a box at work that I tried successfully.
I wont be trying soft...
Excellent, I will order a couple now.
Hmmm, those are far more acceptable in price. Cheap enough to buy a second one for when I break the first due to a stupid mistake. Have you ever purchased from that supplier?
simply because I have a few of the taps on hand and am not sure about how to select the proper thread milling cutter. I like the idea of thread milling a lot, I just dont want to end up with an...
