Andrew,
Did you think of threading the hole in the end cover to screw the bulkhead connector into? The spec sheet say M16x1.5, so I may leave a bit more wall thickness where I thread it.

I didn't go through every page, but how will this work on a iPad mini? I just got one, and it doesn't have to be shared with the rest of the fam... Not sure I want it out in the chips yet, but...
Not that it solves your problem, but I just got my 540 running and my steppers were 2.8amp and I used 2.2k resistors, all I had at the time. It is running great with them, but I received some 2.7k...
Got working with changing step pin to port 1 from port 0...
I recently replaced my Xylotex 4 axis card with a G540. Everything has gone pretty well, except for the stupid spindle control. Which is ironic, as I blew up a C41 trying to get spindle control...
Where did you get your rubber sheet for it?

Wiring a new CNC4PC C41 spindle PWM controller, to an ICON-MC60 motor controller, on a HF44991. The M3 and M4 commands get the spindle turning, in the same direction for either command, but a M5...
Attached is my plan to add a CNC4PC C41 Spindle control to my Xylotex / HF 44991 setup. I blew everything up trying to add a CNC4PC C6 Spindle controller and Arturo recommended the C41 as an...
I'm west of Portland, and I have finished a mini-mill conversion. haven't done much with it recently, but anyone wanting to come look at it and discuss, I'll let you hear everything I know about...
Check the torque curves for them versus the 276oz/in. The 276's might be better suited. You first have to figure out how fast or slow you want to turn the steppers. the 276's are pretty impressive...
Anyone have experience with the servo driver from IMService, http://www.cadcamcadcam.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=11.
My servos would be served fine by these drivers, specifications...

EMT is conduit for electrical wires. I couldn't find what EMT stands for myself, but it is metal conduit for running electrical...
You could probably cut down that cost if you assembled some of the parts yourself. I mounted everything in the PC case, build your own power supply, etc., etc.
Just to throw something else out,...
Alternatives: Many......
one would be to buy steppers and build mounts and run with it. Feeds will be slow, and you have a greater chance to miss steps as speeds increase, but it is doable with...
My guess would be that the CNC ready Taig has smoother leadscrews/nuts that the Chinese mini-mill, but you are getting up there in RPM of the leadscrew to get adequate cutting speeds.
Stepper RPM:...
Just a FYI, my design speed was 150-175 rpm from the stepper. This give 30+ ipm rapids. Very acceptable for a mini-mill with 11-12 inch to traverse X.
If you have 16 tpi stock leadscrews, that...
Email Xylotex. He's a pretty good guy, and was very helpfull when I was setting mine up.
Here's the link from automationdirect.com with thier spec sheets....
From experience, check the torque curves for both steppers. I got mine from Automation direct, when I bought, and the torque curve for the 276oz/in had better torque at the rpm that was best for my...
How come no one makes an extended based for the SIEG X2. I think you could add a 0.5 - 1 inch spacer in the head assembly and a 2inch longer base, and get a MUCH bigger work envelope.
If I had 2...
I would add a few more dollars to your budget and buy a xylotex 3 axis board. I have used several for CNC projects and they are great.

I felt the same way you did about this. Buy, Buy, Buy. These forums are for people to share info. I don't begrudge Ron selling plans, he seems like a very nice guy. He lives close to me, and he...

Do you reall need 800-1200 oz/in steppers? I have a Sieg/HF mini-mill with 276oz/in steppers and ballscrews, and have more power than I need. It snaps endmills way to easy.
My strategy would be...

No that I have any experience with it but wouldn't the FROG controller fit the bill.

Is your rotary table the Phase 2 or the Precision one? I have the Precision version from LMS. I would like to hear how you attached your stepper mount to it.
