Here is what...
I have built the Gingery machine as well as I have a small bench top molder as well. The best bet is to just use a punch for that small size of part (most meaning the thickness). You would be better...
well in the past i built a gingery machine and used it with some success but not for parts to sell.
I recently purchased an emco 2/3 oz pnuematic injection molder, which is a bench top unit. I do...
I know this thread is a little old, but just wanted to chime in and say I just recently purchased an Emco 2/3 oz pneumatic injection machine...has a few molds that come with it, but I will begin...
yeah we are still here. The yahoo group is the place to really check out, there have been a couple new members so you may have already joined there...i sent you a response as well.
from the home anodizing set up I use I can get good results, here are a few examples. The surface is a little more scratch resistant and the shine is only as bright as the part was before it gets...
Well I already posted my information based on what little info we knew. I was off by one tool and that being a sander (and a vibratory tumbler if he cares to). So all in all my idea isnt far off from...
I guess you are intending to ruffle feathers, there ARE other ways to machine parts that do work and do produce quality parts. In july of last year my parts were on a show bike in super street bike...
Nope didnt ruffle my feathers at all...this can be done in many different ways. As I mentioned before I made some similar parts this way, so I know for a fact it can be done, and can be done faster...
Well if he does more of the work manually then the precision is very relevant. If he can throw them on a bench sander to make the radius and do it in multiples at a time and they dont have to be...
how accurate does each measurement need to be? That is my biggest question with all of this. for example is a part for an aircraft that is precision? or for a mounting point that has some play......
I think there is a houston metal workers group, but cant remember the name off hand, I am sure a google search will turn up something. If your in the austin area you can always give me a shout
they have that same lathe in a 7x12 as well as there as ones that are 8x14 if you are looking for some more distance between centers. i think grizzly has the 8x14 lathe that may be a better size for...
Yeah that was my shop.
Did you and your dad decide what you are going to get as far as machines?
Give me a call and I can show you some stuff on the lathe when you need.
Dan
I have a cnc X3, which like most I am working on an ATC for it as well as a lathe head attachment etc etc..I have seen a tormach up close and working and for the price I wasnt overly impressed. Now...
how deep are you going? I also crank up the speed when I am drilling. use some oil,WD40 or what have you and your lathe should not have any problems. The slow RPMs are a killer for this lathe when...
i had a similar issue with my 11x26 lathe. In the end I replaced my start and run capacitor as well as my switch. Although I beleive it was the run capacitor that was my original problem. I just...
how heavy is that 4" bore cylinder? i have a 5" one in my shop but it would be heavy to have sit on my mill which is a X3 so it has a larger head and column...Is it actually 1100lbs or is it less?...
hey hoss
here is my plate. it is aluminum but one row is drilled and tapped and has stainless steel heli coils in there, and then the other row is just drilled for dowel pins...so one row of screw...
hmm... as soon as i tried to go into your site, I got a pop up from my anti virus, said it blocked a recent attempt on my computer...Not sure what you have on there and what was trying to attach to...
that is coming along nice now! Love the coolant tray for sure! wish i had the room to build something like that in my shop!!!
Keep up th good work!
Dan
ah you are a little opposite from me then. can you cut the drawers to run coolant around there? IF you cant bend any sheet metal I would look for a plastic tub like in that link you sent me earlier,...
I wish...But I dont have the table space in my shop to be able to build any type of enclosure besides a table mount one. If I did I think I would go for a fully enclosed unit. But if one day I get...
do you have a miter saw and a band saw? Depending on your tolerances needed you may be able to cut the rod into sections and place 4 ( 2 on the bottom 2 on the top) in the band saw and cut 4 at a...
Got a fixture plate sitting on the mill now. This thing is sweet! 1/4"/20 holes every inch along the length and 2" apart. Inbetween those are other holes drilled for dowls, so I am in good shape now...
yeah that is awesome, i am in the middle of the same mod with my X3...just got my fixture plate yesterday so I should have it done this week, hopefully with the tail stock too.
I dont know the lathe you but i would imagine something more along the lines of this would be more suitable for the quick change tool post...
