Thanks guys.... thisi is getting interesting!
Well....
Fusion is not realy 'free' but at near 500$ US per year and for the amount of usage I envision... free cad is the way to go for me.
It's not utterly expensive, at about 10$ US a year ( 40...
Hello all! :)
It's been quite a while I have been here and now I am returning to the hobby (CNC building machines)
I have never really be keen on learning CAD but nowadays, there are quite a...
perfect circle has it, I round it to .040 and go at it.
25.4mm to an inch and bam too!
But the thing is that it is real easy to work in both format!
if inches are split in 1000 thou, then it is...
Just checked the online manual for the lathe.
The motor is quoted at 1HP and will take 13,5Amp!!!
Now this is 2HP almost, or a very innefficient motor!!
Luc
Hi , I intend to buy soon the Grizzly G0704 mill machine ( BF20 style) and the G0602 lathe.
On the Milling machine they quote the motor as being 1HP.
Fine I say...
Then they quote...
Oh I forgot, the meaning of my post was, then go ''with something that feels right is Kompass 3D LT from Russia''.
you felt it was right, then it probably is.
Now if your machines are calibrated...
Not to sound too cockey, but what is wrong with the metric system?
Before you throw gentle bricks at me, consider the following....
The fraction system I think everybody will admit is rather...
I bought from Ebay two brand new Mitutoyo indicators (MT802411).
I am quite happy with my purchase I must say except that on one of them, when I turn the bezel, the dial will not turn. The cristal...
You built a guitar amp with a G40!!! :)
I am being silly of course, we all know that the best guitar amp are built with glass envelope LEDs!! For some reason they don't glow very bright, but they...
Hi all! I'm Back (health issues)
I found a place where they sell used 'fleet' computers, tested, cleaned and reformatted fresh with Windows XP pro (licensed).
Now the shop owner gave me a hint...
aqh ok... anyway, it reminds me of a weird principle...
The concept of a vacuum tank!!
On a machine I was working on, we needed to boost the vaccum pickup. we were not able to position...
Vaccum valves works on a different principle! :)
And not all valves use a pilot vent.... but most do!
Luc
Solenoid pneumatic valve is not something you hack/build/fudge with!
They are like relays and switches... you buy them.
These are very common in industrial machinery... search a bit on ebay and...
Here is one idea from the 'Crazy but might work' department!!
Don't throw rocks at me, it's just an idea...
Say you built your machine using rack and pinions on the X axis
Say you...
Another argument for the three head machine, even if its against my own :) with three heads you can do 3 times as much work, especially in the engraving business!
Three head with the same...
Just a question here....
On a point of view regarding manufacturing efficiency, I guess you will not drive the three routers at the same time.
Would'nt it be more efficient to install...
Hi all....
I have been away for awhile (health and unemployment issues)
So I heeded to the suggestions here.
I built the frame base with 4040 aluminium extrusion and made it 26" X 38"
The gantry...
Hi all,
I am chuging along building my machine and elected on a sorta' Mike Evermann servobelt system.
I just got the pinions and the belting yesterday (20mm T5).
I have re-read most of this...
I am building my machine right now and I use only pieces of extruded aluminium and plates.
My table is 26X27X8 inches and so far i bought 9 feet of U channel 3" X1" 1/4" thick..... 1/2 " plate...
Hi all! :)
I am currently building my machine, (router) and right now I am waiting to see all the mechanisms built to confirm my calculations about torque requirements and motor/drive...
Hi Mariss
Dip-switch is fine and people here HAVE to be intelligent!
Ignorance is easily overcome with a bit of learning, so a bit of learning binary counting is really nothing to fear, so my vote...
I am from the Laval Area and building my own gantry machine these days.
Pretty much all of it from salvaged stuff from 2005 when the company I worked closed.
I am an industrial electro-mech, with...
I am slowly building my machine and working my way around the software issues.
Many things to think and a bit complex but nothing unsurmountable! :) (yeah right! )
Now I am sure this subject has...
Thanks for the clarification H.O.
I know MODBUS, without having ever used it, the machines I maintain are all from Europe and use more commonly the PROFIBUS with Siemens step7 PLC (ST-200 300 and...
While looking elsewhere on the 'zone' I came across this PoKeys 55

A very interesting I/O to USB subsystem... and very...
Interesting!
I just checked the config panel in MACH3 and the panel says "only pin 10-13 and 15 are inputs"
I don't see where pin 2-9 can be configured as inputs on port 2.
A second port cost...
A second port gives axises and outputs I don't realy need and only 4 inputs more...
A 4 bit binary output from the PLC is actually one of sixteen input conditions...
Individual limit switches...
I am an industrial electronic engineer by trade and I am building my first CNC router these days....
25:"Y by 37:"X y Z:8" with not much to brag about really! :)
This machine is built with a...
