has anybody got experience cutting smaller threads (M3?M4) and does anybody know a trick to break off the chips at the end of the thread? To get rid of it manually takes too long...

At a pinch, try ALT + number. 0-255
Keep the ALT-key pressed and enter numbers on the number pad.

What cutter and what material do you use exactly?

The taper don't need any grinding after install. The only really different point is the tention on the bearings. You need to know the right torque for the bearing nuts.
