Slowly getting stuff listed. Here is a link.

I have a bunch of tooling and other stuff that I'm going to be selling as well. Is it appropriate to post here when I make an eBay listing?
I think I could have gotten a bit more but the buyer made it an easy, no hassle deal. Or so it seems. We'll find out when it's paid for and gone.
$35k
I listed it on eBay and got what I thought was a decent offer.
I was going to list it on eBay but if anyone here has an interest by all means PM me. Happy to answer any questions.
And yes, I'm sure things will slow down at some point. I just don't like to have anything mechanical sit without being used. I go out there each month and run it for a little while as it is.
The $48K price when I bought it was a 30% discount off the retail price from Haas. According to the sales guy these aren't available from Haas right now because they have a backlog of orders.
Yep, definitely a low time machine compared to most I believe. A few pics attached.
I haven't posted here in a while. As some of you may remember I bought a Haas SMM2 in the fall of 2009 for my home shop. Times have changed for me and I've just gotten too busy to do much with it...
What state and city are you in?
Thanks for the reply. I suppose I asked the wrong question. The better question is, what should I make it out of? The max weight it would need to support is about 3000 lbs. Would 6061 do?
I'm curious if any of you might have a clue as to the material this item is made from. It very much looks and feels like aluminum however it has a very odd gold tint to it. The attached photo is...
What?! No pictures!? ;) Got it. Thanks.
Thanks for the suggestion on Harvey Tool. They have exactly the cutter I need. I haven't seen these through any of the normal tool companies (enco, msc, etc.).
I assume you mean a spin index like this?

The question is still how to best fixture them when cutting the 6th face.
Sounds perfect but I can't locate one that small by doing searches on the Internet. A corner rounding end mill like Geof suggested might be easier but those that I've located seen to have a cutter...
Hmm... I'll have to look for one of those. I've never seen one before.
Stepover was .001. I did one planar finishing pass then another 45 degrees to the first.
Thanks for all the suggestions! Yes, a live tooled lathe would be the best option. And the 4th axis seems like a great idea too. But at the moment I'm working with what I've got to get at least a...
Of course I'm nuts. Nah, wouldn't give it to someone else. Remember, for me half the fun is making it myself and learning. I'd say the cubes need to be +- .002 maybe. And there I go forgetting to...
I have a part I'm working on that I'm just not sure how to fixture. One of them could easily be held in a vise but that just won't do it. Here's the problem. We're talking about a small part. By...
What's odd is that only a few months ago Haas listed these updates on their site. They had a revision history list of what changed in each software version. I cant' find it now.
I believe he's talking about the name of the file itself, not the name of the program within the file.
Geof, thanks for the pics. NOW it makes sense. That one was a bit hard to picture from the text.
bdsorcic, thank you. It's been fun so far.
I'm usually good a picturing what you describe but I'm a little lost on this one. Do you have a picture?
