What spare parts should we keep on hand for Traub TNL26? After about a year of running, we seem to be having frequent maintenance issues. Technician availability is a problem. So, having a good...
We are looking for strong setup people with experience on vertical and horizontal mills. Proven ability to setup 3 and 4 axis work, troubleshoot, train operators, and program parts is important. ...
Quality and speed are key.
Looking for someone that can take a part print and program and setup CNC machines to make good parts. For low volume runs, this person would also run the parts and...
CNC Machinist to run HAAS mill and lathes, exp with mill/turn, multi-axis machines also a plus. Mastercam proficient.
Is there anyone out there currently using Esprit to program a Traub TNL 26?
Do either of you have an Esprit post for a Traub TNL 26?
Please explain what you mean by indicating and centering each tool.
I understand the intent and I agree with it. Back in the 80's when, I was a commercial software developer, I wanted to build the same funcionality into my software. However, I was advised by my...
Can anyone tell me what Code 144 is?
Thanks to all for your input. We have tried all methods mentioned of putting holes in the steel except for interpolating. The results are the same as previously reported in the post. Basically, using...
Mystery solved...new 2nd shift guy with new "tools" ...
This morning we found a white plastic part at the bottom of our VF-3SS's work area. We do not use this material nor stock this material in our facility, so we are assuming it came from the machine. ...
I understand.
The results are very impressive. How well did the center position repeated part to part, day to day? How well did it repeat relative to other features on the part? This is...
Tools and part comment is noted. Good point.
The CMM measurement system is repeatable to within 0.0003" (on a bad day). This is based on variation that I see measuring the same three parts...
Thanks! Per this diagram, it looks like the VF-3SS may be the wrong machine for what we are trying to do with it. But it does support the belief that the VM-3 or VF-4 should meet our needs.

Setting 57 is "OFF" on both machines.
What does turning this "ON" do?
The consensus does appear to be boring...approach direction??? I'll have to check.
Yes, based on the same specs this does sound odd. However, since I am looking at purchasing additional machines, I'd appreciate it if you could tell me where I could find that matrix. I couldn't...
We do periodically check the holes and they appear to be true...indicating 0.0000 from top to bottom.
However, how much trouble could I expect to see due to drill wander given the following...
Machine is put through a warm-up program every morning. We are now running two shifts on the machine, so we will be able to see if there is a difference in the dimensional variation from day to...
Agreed. That is what I am trying to accomplish here with all of your input and help. The basic background info was provided in the very first post.
Lots of information suggests there is room...
It's interesting that you should throw those numbers out there. When I did a statistical study of my measurements, it tells me that I can hold six-sigma quality levels at +/- .0029" on this machine...
I'll keep you up to date on our trials and results. As for the glass scales...I already asked Haas and they said a field installation could not be done on this machine. Glass scales can only be...
JP...I guess this is where my ignorance of the industry shows up. I am beginning to learn that in the machine tool industry, it appears that accuracy and repeatability specs are the best the machine...
Turned the rapids down to 5% and the results were the worst I had seen come off the machine. We're back up at 100%.
A couple of people have mentioned different ways of approaching the hole. We are using short carbide bits to drill. We have indicated the hole after reaming and it is true from top to bottom.
...
All opinions welcome...
We are putting in two thru-holes on each part, a .200" and a .125". We need the holes to be with 0.0002" center to center to mount on a grinding fixture. The material is...
Thanks for your comments. Since I will be at the IMTS show in Chicago, any recommendations of whihc machines I should be looking at if our main work is high precision steel parts...we are starting...
Thanks for the feedback.
Relative to diggityds statement:
The two holes that we monitor should be 1.1058" apart center to center. Using carbide tools and the lower end of the speed and feed...
Yes..by parameter. If we find this needs to be adjusted more frequently, do you know if that signifies a particular type of problem?
