Are you trying to store files on the controller or pull files from Haas? SMB protocols are required to enable users to communicate with the remote computer/servers.
Hello,
Depending on the connection available at the equipment, we can connect and transfer G code programs using software like Predator DNC, and RS232 Serial Grizzly Cable. If the machine has...
You can try taking a RS232 tester and put at the end of the cable between the CNC port and your DB25 connector. If your data is getting to the end of the cable on RD (Receive), then it's your CNC.
If the controller has been upgraded with USB you are good to go. You can program at the CNC and save them offline; or create offline in your cam system and save the NC pgr to the usb stick.
We can swap out the old floppy disk drive on the CNC and add USB option for it. Check out our site and look for Floppy Connect

What is the make and model of the controller?
115K seems extremely fast without Xmodem. Are you using a USB to serial adapter....make and model ?
You can also check the software license by selecting HELP | ABOUT Predator and it will provide the serial number. It may state is is OEM licenses from one of the 10 different CAM systems.
You can use Predator and it will work with Windows 7 or 8. You might be hard to find a serial port on a new PC running Windows 7 or 8, so make sure you find the proper hardware.
USB or Ethernet...
You could check to make sure you program is properly formatted for the CNC. More than likely, there is data (spaces, comments, other non-readable characters) after the M30, precent sign. If you...
This could be a DB25 punch port only on the controller. Do you have a tape reader on the machine? You can try using a tape reader emulator to allow you to load programs into the machine if it has a...
Been working with a client for the last few days and they have a Dyna Mech 2400, laptop, serial cable with the Dyna Mech Software works great. Send and receive no issues.
They have a 2200 series...
Rick,
If you are looking to upload and download programs to the machine, we sell cables on the website. We also have a USB to serial device that works 100% with a variety of CNC controllers. We...
The big question, can you get an error at the CNC when sending into the controller from the PC. Does the machine give an alarm?
If, yes, the port is working most likely and maybe the parameters...
Paul,
What alarm are you getting at the machine when attempting to load into the controller from the PC?
Try taking a part program stored in the control and save back. Then take the "good"...
Jon is right! Don't buy cheap USB to serial adapters because you will find they work intermittently and a complete waste of time. Find one that has been tested and works with CNC machines of various...
Anyone planning to attend Westec 2013? Curious to know who from the forum might be going to meet and greet for an introduction?
With a PC in each cell severing 2 machines, you could add a USB port to supply the comm ports needed to communicate to the machines, if serial. From there RS232 cables would be linked to the PC in...
Ugh...the challenge of low quality USB to serial adapters. I am sorry I did not get to chime in sooner, but the first thing would to buy a good USB to serial adapter. The low cost units will...
The port on the machine that is DB25 is a facit punch port for outputting programs. This is why you can get data out but to load the machine, you will need the BTR.
What price do you expect to pay...
Most of the consumer level USB to serial adapters don't work in Windows 7 due to the driver and compatibility issue. As heard, they work in XP but never in Windows 7 and this is due the mfg not...
Clyde,
There are several programs on the market and free from websites. Some of them work great and have documentation to review. Some don't offer support and expect you to do trial and error to...
We offer solutions such as eXtremeDNC that offer the ability to communicate via RS232 and Ethernet based machines. We have solutions for RS232 machines to interface via Ethernet to serial adapters...
I would be cautious towards such items as with any communication, a dropped character can prove to be dangerous for the operator as well as costly on material or machine.
Most RS232 to wireless...
Can you tell us the software and communication settings you have configured?
What model of CNC Controller is on the machine?
My first guess is you are sending too quickly, thus slow the baud...
We are working with a customer who has a Fanuc 160i MB controller. They are wanting to interface the controller to their network and use the Fanuc Focas parameters to collect data.
Does anyone...
I think the issue is the USB to serial adapter. The problems with these low end, cheap $25 units don't have the proper drivers and support for the CNC equipment. They install, Win7 finds them,...
Your Qmodem program will probably work and it just requires a null modem cable. Other options are to add USB port to it so you don't have to deal with a PC and cable, software. If you want more...
The key here is no alarm, no message at the control. The file is never hitting the control and ideally the cable or the hardware between the machine and the PC are an issue.
Bypass any "hub"...
Jose,
The good news is that you received an alarm at the controller. This means the cable and the software are working. You probably need to verify the parameters at the CNC and match at the PC. ...
