Introductory remarks
At first glance it seems illogical to round the cutting edge of a durable drill bit. It would even seem that the tool can no longer fulfil its task if the cutting edge is no longer razor-sharp. The results of edge honing demonstrate the opposite, however.
Edge honing results in considerably less chipping at the tip. The tools thus run smoother, more targeted and swing less. The result is higher precision, better surface quality and finally, greater process reliability. Furthermore, significantly higher cutting speeds and feed rates can be achieved with a rounded cutting edge, which also positively support efficiency in the process.
Solution
The René Gerber AG Company, CH-Lyss has for years focussed on honing hard-metal cutting tools. The service life can be significantly increased both for drilling and milling equipment, as well as for punching tools. This results in a longer life-time for drills, which has a clearly positive economical effect.
The drill tensioning drum as an option for the brush polishing machine
The drill tensioning drum can be chosen as an option for both the BP-MX brush polishing machine, the product for large volumes as well as for the flexible BP-Smart. Retrofitting an existing installation is also possible.
Are you a specialist in regrinding drill bits and are looking for a more efficient processing or do you have an in-house grinding shop? We are specialists for efficient processing and align the drill tensioning drum and the workpiece mount exactly to your requirements.
