Hi everyone,

Just had a weird new thing crop up yesterday. I'm using the demo version of Mach2, and the program seems to run fine. However when I hit the "stop" button on screen the computer says "disk error" or something and exits out of Mach2. I have to restart the computer to get it to work again.

This computer has run fine Mach2 before, so I'm a bit perplexed. E-stops work fine.

The Mach2 diagnosics ran fine, so I didn't install the special driver or anything.

Thoughts?

Are you running the g-code from a floppy?

Well I was transferring the file from the "inside" computer to the cnc computer on a floppy, but I was copying the g-code file onto the desktop before opening it.

I might have accidently opened the g-code on the floppy instead. I usually use a memory stick, but I forgot it at work.

Should I pop the floppy out of the drive before starting up Mach2? There'd be no way to accidently work off the floppy then.

I tried ejecting the floppy after copying my files over, and that seems to do the trick. Mach is working fine again, with no disk errors or crashes. Much better!

Interestingly, SheetCam doesn't like floppy disks either. Probably regular users already know that, but I learned something new. Or maybe nobody but me uses floppys....

Well, the problem occurred again last night. While running Mach2, I hit the stop button, and it brought up an error message and quit. Restart required.

This happened while I had both Mach2 and SheetCam running. I closed out SheetCam, and then the stop function seemed to work fine. Has anyone else experienced this?
