HIT – HEIDENHAIN Interactive Training

HEIDENHAIN has developed an education concept consisting of three modules. The modules are available in various versions in an online shop: HIT – HEIDENHAIN Interactive Training (free demo version, single and multiple license) HIT support you when you begin programming with HEIDENHAIN controls. The control functions are explained with animation, small tasks and exercises. In addition, you can take tests to check what you have learned.

Programming systems for CNC machines
DR. JOHANNES HEIDENHAIN GmbH
Programming systems for CNC machines
vTNC7
Through an intuitive, task-focused and personalized user experience, HEIDENHAIN TNC7 controls are unlocking new ways for machine tool manufacturers and users to program and operate their machines. Numerous smart software options such Model Aided Setup (MAS) and Dynamic Collision Monitoring (DCM) make this possible. MAS, for example, provides 6D graphical setup support, while DCM protects tools, fixtures and machine components.

Starting at EMO 2025, the 24-inch and 19-inch variants of the TNC7 will be able to perform shaping and cylindrical grinding operations. These new operations will round out the control’s done-in-one manufacturing capabilities while improving workpiece accuracy, contour fidelity and surface quality. Without rechucking the workpiece, TNC7 users will have milling, turning and grinding capabilities at their fingertips. The TNC7 and TNC7 basic will also offer new cylinder surface machining capabilities. In addition, new functions for graphical programming and simulation will further simplify the already intuitive user experience of TNC7 controls through improved user guidance and new analysis capabilities.

At EMO 2025, the TNC7 go is bringing the intuitive and pioneering user experience of the TNC7 family to vocational training and legacy machines. A particular highlight is the new “Graphical positioning” function. Instead of writing an NC program, the user simply draws the desired contour or pattern directly on the touchscreen. Position approach movements are handled by the control. As a straight-cut control that can also handle analog motors, the TNC7 go is the next-generation successor to the HEIDENHAIN TNC 128 control.

Software for production data acquisition
StateMonitor
Gain 360° of real-time insight into the production status of your CNC machine tools by collecting, analyzing and visualizing machine data with the HEIDENHAIN StateMonitor software. Along with enhanced energy data analysis, a job interface feature also enables automated data sharing with ERP and MES systems.

With its energy monitoring function, StateMonitor reveals the actual energy consumption of your machines, delivering consumption data for electricity, pressurized air and process water, thus allowing users to identify energy guzzlers, derive optimization measures and reduce energy costs. Consumption analysis can be performed at the machine level for defined periods or for individual NC programs and individual parts.

Because data consistency across different systems is essential for efficient manufacturing, the HEIDENHAIN StateMonitor machine data collection software provides an interface for sharing job data with higher-level ERP and MES software. Job data and planned timing data are automatically sent to StateMonitor, The user can then enrich this data to include actual times, such as setup and production times, as well as the quantities actually produced. Going in the opposite direction, data from completed jobs can also be sent to the higher-level systems, providing them with important real-world production data. This gives users deep insight into production processes and their level of efficiency—all with a single software tool.

Linear and angular measurement, general
TCI 2000
The TCI 2000 absolute inductive angle encoder from HEIDENHAIN is designed to perfectly meet the requirements of machine tools. This encoder combines the benefits of wide mounting and operating tolerances, contamination-resistant scanning, high shaft speeds and excellent positioning accuracy. It also features a flat, modular design that makes simplifies integration into applications with limited installation space. When deployed on the tilting tables of milling machines, the TCI 2000 ensures the necessary precision and dynamic performance for 3+2 machining. On lathes, it is the optimal solution for controlling the position and speed of the milling spindle and workpiece axis.

TS touch probes
Faster in-process setup and probing are made possible by the TS 460 workpiece touch probe from HEIDENHAIN, featuring very high measurement feed rates of up to 3000 mm/min. The time saved during probing, which can be as great as 30%, then becomes available as valuable productive time on the shop floor. The integrated flusher/blower of the TS 460 ensures high measurement accuracy by cleaning any chips from the probed surface. The touch probe can also be equipped with an effective anti-collision buffer that not only prevents expensive damage but also thermally decouples the touch probe.

TT touch probes
The TT 160 and TT 460 tool touch probes are trigger touch probes for measuring and inspecting tools. The TT 160 uses a cable for signal communication, while the cableless TT 460 communicates with the SE 660 transceiver via radio or infrared signals. The disk-shaped probe contact of the TT is deflected when it touches the tool during probing, thereby generating a trigger signal that is sent to the control for processing. The trigger signal is produced a wear-free optical sensor that exhibits high reliability. The probe contact is easy to replace, and the connecting pin to the probe contact features a break point that protects the touch probe during crashes due to incorrect usage.

Linear encoders and angle encoders for machine tools

Coded linear and angular measuring systems

Thanks to TRUE IMAGE TECHNOLOGY, the Series 6 LC sealed linear encoders and Series 1 RCN angle encoders from HEIDENHAIN reliably deliver high-accuracy position feedback—in many cases even without purge air. As a result, the purge air system of machines can be significantly simplified. This reduces the carbon footprint of the encoders by up to 99% and significantly reduces system costs. Thanks to the contamination-resistant optics of these encoders, machine tools can stay productive for longer periods, while going without purge air increases machine availability. Needing fewer components for the purge air system also accelerates the encoder installation process. The key to TRUE IMAGE TECHNOLOGY is a special light guiding element that fully eliminates the optical distortions that typically arise through liquid contamination on the scale. As a result, an unobstructed image of the graduation arrives at the scanning head despite the contamination.

Tool fracture and wear detecting systems
TD 110
The TD 110 tool breakage detector inspects tools with a diameter of at least 0.4 mm and performs non-contact breakage detection starting a length change of 2 mm. This happens inside the machine envelope with the spindle rotating at operating speed. Saving up to six seconds at each tool change results in significant time and cost benefits. The sturdy and compact TD 110 can be installed near the table inside the work envelope of nearly any machine tool. Its signals are transmitted to the control over the touch probe interface. For greater process reliability, the control can respond with a message, an NC stop or a user-specified reaction.

tool monitoring systems, electronic
At EMO 2025, HEIDENHAIN will be introducing the new version 1.6 of the Visual Tool Check software for the VT 122 measuring camera. In the future, the Visual Tool Check software will offer AI-powered wear measurement that fully automates this normally manual measurement process, thereby enabling faster process documentation—a key benefit for industries such as aerospace and medical tech. As a combined system, the VT 122 camera and Visual Tool Check software are therefore an important holistic tool monitoring solution that saves time and provides dependable data about the condition of tools inside the machine.
