\r\n For some reason during a tool change the spindle gets ready to load or unload the tool from the changer and just stops and gets an alarm with the spindle still in the carousel. \r\n \r\ni have 100psi air at the regulator but the error mentions the drawbar not releasing. \r\n \r\nanyone have any suggestions. \r\n \r\nthank you in advance. \r\n \r\ntim\r\n
\r\n Solenoid valve not working??? \r\n \r\nDo you hear the release cylinder operate? \r\n \r\nWhat happens when you load or unload a tool using the manual release?\r\n

\r\n Geof i just noticed the error message says tool clamp fault. \r\n \r\nwill manually release and load tool, \r\n \r\nwhen auto tool change i hear the airsolenoid open and airr hiss then error message. \r\n \r\ni will go listen for the release cylinder. \r\n \r\nthank you\r\n
\r\n found the servicew manual got some info to start looking. \r\n \r\n134 (M) TOOL CLAMP FAULT - While Unclamping, the tool did not release from spindle when commanded. \r\nCheck air pressure, solenoid circuit breaker CB4, and for maladjustment of the draw bar assembly.\r\n
\r\n checked the breakers there fine, air solenoid appears to be working(it loads manually) something leads me to believe it may be a switch. \r\n \r\ni geus i will look in the direction of the last thing on the list maladjustment of the drawbar assy, i wonder how i do that?\r\n
\r\n But you can take the tool out by hand with the manual release? \r\n \r\nThat has me puzzled. \r\n \r\nI have had tools give the unclamp fault because of a faulty solenoid valve. I have had the same fault because the tool was too tight in the taper after the spindle cooled. But in both cases the manual release would not work either; just a clack but the tool would not come out.\r\n

\r\n for some reason i think it has something to do with a proximity sensor or switch of some sort, although i am not getting an error message for a switch i cant explain why most everything else checks out. \r\n \r\ncalling haas is out of the question as i dont have the money to pay them(how you can constantly make parts and not have enough money to fix the machine is beyond me too, this gig is tough),i guess i will be getting a crash course in learing how to diagnose and repair this machine because it will be down until i do. \r\n \r\nthank you very much for all your assistance i am going to go look at the relays and parameters on the control and see if i cant figure somethin out. \r\n \r\ntim\r\n
\r\n one thing i noticed on the machine i have 1 switch as noticed in the attached photo stays lit when the shuttle is in or out it doesnt go out,the other switches go out when metal gets near them. \r\n \r\ndo you think this is the defective swithch or is it always stay lit?\r\n
\r\n Tim, \n \nI can send you the 11 pages covering the ATC from the current Haas service manual if you have not found the problem. I can fax them or email you .pdf files. Send me a PM if you are interested. \n \nVern\r\n
\r\n i removed the umbrella motor and verified both proximity sensors work. the front works off of the carosel turning and the one on the motor is triggered twice per revolution.\r\n
\r\n i bet you thats it,the only thing i havent done was take the z axis front cover off,i have looked at it a few times but it looked time consuming to get it off,so i was saving it for last. \r\n \r\n \r\ni will check it out tomorrow. \r\n \r\nthank you so very much for your reply.\r\n
\r\n sorry i could not sleep had to go out and remove the z axis front cover(wow there is a lot of stuff in there, noticed another solenoid i didnt know was there) definately things became clearer once the cover came off. \r\n \r\nfirst i noticed a loose bolt laying at the bottom of the spindle casting. \r\n \r\nthen i noticed a loose proximity sensor for the drawbar release laying awry. \r\n \r\nenclosed are photos of my findings. \r\n \r\nGeof will recall the first trouble i had with this machine the z axis proximity sensor bolt vibrated loose and when i booted up the machine the next morning crash. \r\n \r\nironically enough when the haas service tech was out on that at the time warranty call i said "do you think we should check the other switches to make sure there tight?" \r\n \r\nhe responded nahh they will be allright. \r\n \r\ni said dont they use loctite on these bolts? \r\n \r\nhe said sometimes they do sometimes they dont. \r\n \r\nthis obviously was the case they didnt lol. \r\n \r\ni am very relieved it is a simple fix,i also feel better as i am learning more on how to service and care for the machine (takes some edge off when theres a problem). \r\n \r\nattached is photos of our problem. \r\n \r\ni want to extend a sincere thank you to all who have helped in this time of need. \r\ngod bless you. \r\n \r\ntim\r\n
\r\n Glad it was an easy fix. The part I was talikng about is clearly visible in the third pic but that is assuming all prox\'s are working.Did you buy your machine used? It looks as though you are missing one drive spindle belt.\r\n
\r\n rlabonte18, i bought the machine new does a tmp1 have 2 drive belts? \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\nvern,i got it fixed about 1 am this morning,worked fine up until 5 am when i shut it off. \r\n \r\nthanks\r\n

Fixed at 1 am, then work until 5 am, and you are still awake answering posts. You must be a good few decades younger than me; I think the last time I managed something like that was about fifteen years ago.\r\n

\r\n Good for you, my pages would not have done you any good anyhow. Now get some sleep so you can successfully deal with Geof\'s imminent job offer. \r\n
\r\n Hi guys, \r\n \r\nI just stumbled across this thread. I\'m expiriencing the same thing with the tool clamp faults on our TM-1. We had the same problem a few months back and had a tech come in. Apparently it was the large oring inside the spindle drawbar clamp unit. We had a lot of crud in there from the materials we are cutting. He cleaned it all out and gave it light lube. The mill has run fine for a few months and now it is doing the same thing again. I\'m thinking that it is probably the same thing. so I plan to tear it down and give it a good cleaning. What I was wondering is if anyone knows where to get a replacement oring for it? The tech says that Haas reccomends replacing the whole unit. I\'m not sure we have a full replacement of the unit in our budget. In fatc I\' don\'t have cost on the repalcement. Has anyone had to do this? What does the unit cost? We would probably do the replacement ourselves. \r\n \r\nAny help would be appreciated in this. \r\n \r\nCJH\r\n
